Rusher was contacted - told an "unnamed source" wanted his papers - he said no. Said if he had known it was Sen Kennedy he would've made them available - they are welcome to view his papers - no memory of Alito being an active member (or even a participant?)

Sounds like fat teddy is playing games. Trying to hold things up, making nonserious irrelevant requests, that never get to where they're going.
Games.

Kennedy should have spoken to Specter personally before.

(Chuck Schumer is outclassed intellectually by Bush's judicial nominees.)
Specter now says his office did get the letter from Kennedy, but hadn't seen it until just an hour ago. He also says he was apprised of the request in a telephone conversation (with people in his office?). Specter says that he thought at the time the request lacked merit.
He goes on to say that typically, if a request is important, the requesting Sentaor will make a face to face contact. Specter also notes the NYT story.
Now Specter is puzzled (it's catching) as to why Kennedy brings this up now as a matter of subpoena, ruling from the chair, etc. - but Specter will attend to obtaining all the facts.

Now Spector says he's puzzled by the Kennedy went about bringing this up. He must not understand how alcoholics behave.
To: AliVeritas
Arlen Spector shouldn't be puzzled and he isn't. He knows very well Kennedy was just looking to delay the hearings. Spector has handled this brilliantly. But mark my words...it will not stop Kennedy.

BINGO! If there was EVER an apt moment for "Much ado about nothing"...THIS moment is it!
The REASON Rusher refused to make the records public- is BECAUSE when it came from a "Un-named requestor"...who- by the way- was KENNEDY.
Unbelievable. Totally.
