Creationists say fossil discoveries back their theories
THE ORLANDO SENTINEL ^ | Jan. 07, 2006 | Jim Stratton

Posted on 01/08/2006 2:56:32 PM PST by Dichroic

Most paleontologists look into the mouth of an allosaurus and see a prehistoric eating machine with a jaw full of flesh-tearing teeth.

Peter DeRosa peers into that mouth and sees the hand of God.

Working from a business park about 80 miles north of Tampa, Fla., DeRosa and his family are hammering away at two bedrock principles of modern science: evolution and the notion that Earth is about 4 billion years old.

The DeRosas are part of a small but growing band of creationists using dinosaurs - the icons of an ancient Earth - to argue that the world is only 6,000 years old. The DeRosas' tool of choice? The fossilized bones of Ebenezer the allosaurus and other creatures cramming their makeshift laboratory.

"It's very clear in Scripture. God's word is true," said DeRosa, 22.

"Everything we've found supports that." The DeRosas run Creation Expeditions, a ministry that relies on dinosaurs to spread what they say is the infallible word of the Bible.

The family operation includes Peter, his brother Mark, sister Leah, and parents Pete and Linda.

The DeRosas have no formal training but have studied dinosaurs and fossils for more than a decade. .......... The DeRosas' digs have produced impressive results. They have uncovered a 22-foot-long allosaurus - a smaller relative of the T. rex - and a 15-foot-tall edmontosaurus, a plant-eating, duck-billed dinosaur.

The DeRosas and their movement, in essence, are trying to turn science against itself.

By digging up fossils and interpreting their finds, some creationists hope to convince others that evolution and a 4-billion-year-old Earth are nonsensical notions unsupported by the data.

They maintain, for example, that they've found organic plant matter buried with fossils indicating the animals died only a few thousand years ago.

In fact, there is very strong evidence in the Bible that man walked the Earth long before Adam, even though he became extinct and left no progeny.

Now I'm curious. It would be most helpful if you would provide a chapter/verse reference as a means for those of us less skilled in Biblical research to verify your assertion...

What is Christianity but the belief that Jesus was God who became man, lived a sinless life and died for our sins by hanging on a cross, rising from the dead after 3 days and will who will return again in the flesh at the end of the age, and all who believe in Him and what he did shall be forgiven of their sins and saved?

But why did He have to do that? What was the point? As the Bible says, it's because in the Garden, Adam and Eve fell. Before then, there was no death, no sin. No fossils. Because now that we are all fallen creatures, Jesus had to sacrifice Himself in our stead so that we could be with God once again. If that event did not happen or was a fairy tale, then Christ's death on a cross was meaningless!

Evolution is a direct assault upon the very foundation of Christianity. Like it or not, that's how it is. No Christian should be ignorant of that, and yet so many are...

Think about it.

Evolutionists claim that the first cell formed from simple chemicals. But they havent been able to do this in a lab.

And what will creationists say when we find microbial life on Mars ?

Science is based on fact... M.

Science is based on evidence. Not all conclusions based on the evidence is correct. Evidence should be taught as fact. Conclusions should be taught as theory. The problem with science today is they insist on teaching theory as fact. That leads to a environment where no one is able to question scientific theory, which in the end actually stiffles advancement in science. Many things that science believes about evolution are false but no one dares question it.

Great post.

I believe also, as do 98% of Americans, that God created it all 1-2-3.

How could creationism be taken seriously with expert supporters like this dimwit. The 6,000 year history claim is bunk as bad as the earth is flat... While the theory of evolution is far from perfect It cannot be challenged by moonbats with no counter evidence. Every time a reasonable argument is raised these stupid assertions will be used to paint all skeptics as cretins.

The only timeline evolutionists provide is millions and billions of years. What kind of timeline is that?

One that is measured based on the known and measurable rate of decay of radioactive isotopes....

Q: Why would God have given us the ability to reason and to (slowly) discover, piece by piece, the workings of the Universe He created, if he only wanted us to literally believe in the Bible to the exclusion of all else we have learned?

No more calls, ladies and gentlemen! We have a winner!

And a creationist found the evidence! Who'd'a thunk it? In the Dover trial, Behe said that God was probably dead. Creationists pretty much ignored that, but that's what Behe said. Now, a creationist "scientist" actually finds God's hand in an Allosaurus's mouth? Finally, a creationist does some actual science!

(It wont stand up to peer review, but we can certainly enjoy it while it lasts!)

;-)

Religion is based on faith...

Science is based on fact...

There are plenty of facts supporting the truth of Christianity; and certainly there is a degree of faith involved, as well.

Not all of science is based on only facts. Evolutionists tell us that gravity is not a fact, but only a theory.

Evolution is based on some facts and a lot of speculation and beliefs not supported by facts.
