The War on Beer (ZOT!!! Try Our Delicious Troll in Beer Batter)

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A state senator wants to force Missouri stores to sell warm beer. Under a bill by Sen. Bill Alter, grocery and convenience stores would risk losing their liquor licenses if they sold beer colder than 60 degrees. The intent is to cut down on drunken driving by making it less tempting to pop open a beer after leaving the store.
"The only reason why beer would need to be cold is so that it can be consumed right away," Alter, who has been a police offer for more than 20 years, said Thursday.

Meister Brau & Old Milwaukee were bad, but I think Van Merritt was even a cheaper version of these brewed in Milwaukee...pretty sure, anyway.
An even bigger problem here in Ohio is the Drive-Thu Liquor Stores!
I avoid them just to avoid getting rear-ended (no Brokeback Mountian reference intended).

I couldn't imagine trying to get a warm Budweiser down though.I thought this thread was about drinking beer, not Budweiser.

I think it is a true art, as his Bud Light is exceptionally good...it truly enhances the war story atmosphere...

I haven't a clue as to why it happened.

Interesting point. And I mostly agree with you. Laws generally do not take into consideration all the cultural, psychological, cultural factors that determine behavior patterns resulting from alcohol consumption.
What our society needs to get to is a way to allow people to drink without the resulting/accompanying mayhem. And certainly prohibiting the selling of "cold ones" does nothing to solve the problem.

For a couple years, my wife and I hosted German exchange students. They all recoiled in horror when they saw I kept my beer in the refrigerator. They would take the bottle out for at least an hour before drinking it. And even then they would complain it was too cold. Yes, these were high school students and they were already veteran beer drinkers. They think the "age 21" drinking laws over here are absolutely insane.
They also asked us to turn our AC down. They all hated air conditioning. They also didn't believe in daily showers, underarm deoderant and not wearing the same clothes more than three days in a row.
Weird how different cultures can be.

Serious drunks will drink their beer warm. I've seen them. They don't even have to be that serious about it. However, the last time I bought warm beer was 1975 at a Kings Super in Ft Collins Colorado. It was a 6 pak of 6 ounce cans of Coors and I bought it just to bring it home to show my friends those stupid itty bitty cans. LOL

Oooohhhh, you've never had Heileman's Green Death, eh ?
Leiney's was bought out by Miller in the 1990s but they still operate the little brewery in Chip Falls. I'm told that some of the Leinenkugel product is brewed in Milwaukee because demand for this beer has increased.

This is obsurd. Next up: No parking lots within 300 yards of an establishment with a liquor license.
