One of biggest paradigm shifts in origins in recent years is when genetics and morphological studies began to show that Neanderthals and humans werent related. Sure, a lot of Darwin Fundies around here dont know that because they get all of their science from the talking point lists of their Fundamentalist Leaders. So this is probably a big shock too, science is also showing that man is not related to any hominids including apes.
In the groundbreaking book, Who was Adam?, biochemist Fazale Rana examines the scientific research that is overturning Darwinian Fundamentalism. Here, using peer-reviewed research that the Darwin Fundies claim doesnt exist, Rana shows man is unique and designed.
And he details the latest findings on the fossil record, junk DNA, Neanderthals, human and chimp genetics. There's more science here than most Darwin Fundies have ever read, but this will be the next great paradigm shift.
The parallels between Genesis and the latest scientific data are profound... - John A. Bloom, Ph.D., professor of physics, Biola University
On Ranas previous book, Origins of Life:
Evolution has just been dealt its deathblow. After reading Origins of Life, it is clear that evolution could not have occurred. - Richard Smalley, Nobel Laureate, Chemistry, 1996, professor of physics and astronomy, Rice University
Real science by real scientists. According to Darwin Fundies this doesn't exist, but here it is.
"I'd like to know how something can be "related" to another biologically without in some way "descending" from it."
Well, for example, your cousin isn't your mother, unless you're from West Virginia.
Interesting point, but a senario that property law would offend a religion does not equate well with Darwinism against Creationism, which is a daily and vastly more common senario our kids are faced with today.
The answer is: Public Schools would have to Fail either child.
Parents understanding this predetermined senario is imperative.
Hey, now! With the secularists in charge, we'll fight like hell, 'cuz there's no tomorrow. It's you Christians who want peace on earth, good will towards men!
:)
At 47 years old, I kinda have to agree with the idea that everything is breaking down. Apparently starting with my knees.
Hmm. I was under the impression that the main reason for environmental pressure toward bipedalism was that the spread of the savannah favored animals that could see over the grasses and spot predators, hence the selective pressures in favor of bipedalism (but that's as much a conjecture as any other, I suppose). Intelligence, I thought, was more a byproduct of a shift to a high protein meat diet after the development of hunting skills that then allowed for the deveopment and maintenance of a larger brain.
So all arguments for "common descent" coming from the evolution camp entail direct genetic lineage? No cousins allowed at the table for arguing common descent?
Hmm... how very peculiar then that the fields of both paleontology and geology existed, and apparently functioned quite well, prior to the theory of evolution. Confusing, no?
Fester, before you start arguing about science, how about learning basic English, followed by learning about science?
Arguing from ignorance is bad enough. Arguing from ignorance AND your own inability to comprehend English is far worse.
The Bible says there's a time for peace and a time for war. Now is the time for war.
"Hmm... how very peculiar then that the fields of both paleontology and geology existed, and apparently functioned quite well, prior to the theory of evolution."
Actually, paleontology and geology led to the theory of evolution.
No, I wanted Public Schools to clearly state they will preach Darwinism and provide no Religious schooling. They have now done this.
I do want parents to have this knowledge so they can decide where to send their kids. Once they understand this, I believe the number of private schools and/or home schools will increase.
Regarding art, music, athletics, etc...why are Public Schools teaching this?
You failed to explain your argument in detail. You hereby receive an F.
I stopped saying "like" in 6th grade.
And to think all this time I thought Chucky was trained for the clergy, and now I discover he was a paleontologist and a geologist. I guess I need to learn to use Google better.
Now that I think of it, I remember reading in some "creationist pamphlet" that Chucky D (I'm sorry if some consider it blasphemous to take the Prophet's name in vain) actually suggested that the fossil record known in his day might not yet be considered to provide the best support to his original theory...
Like fur sure.... but I am suspect to you ever graduating that level.
"And to think all this time I thought Chucky was trained for the clergy, and now I discover he was a paleontologist and a geologist. I guess I need to learn to use Google better."
Back then, there was a LOT more cross-disciplinary work going on than there is now. Chuckie may not have been a practicing paleontologist/geologist, but he knew and corresponded with men who were.
keep guessing subbrain.
bttt
This is semantics at all - it's very straight forward.
"Common descent" means that two species share a common ancestor. This is the same principal of two cousins sharing a common ancestor - their grandparents.
The relationship of humans and modern apes is the same that cousins would have to each other - they both share a common ancestor.
