I wish Democrats would fret over our National Security.
Who knows, we may get lucky and they will take out the Russel building.
Then I would say they are more than fretting.
ATF agents are investigating the large theft from Cherry Enginering, a company owned by Chris Cherry, for decades the senior explosives scientist at Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico. Also, 2,500 detonators were missing from a storage explosive container, or magazine, in the name of Cherry Engineering.
One hundred and fifty pounds of the plastic explosive compound C-4 and 250 pounds of undetectable "sheet explosives" a DuPont flexible explosive material that can be hidden in books and letters were stolen in the burglary, which also included the theft of blasting caps.
A special agent at ATF said the incident was unusual because such high-powered material was targeted.
Burglars used a torch bar to break into the explosives containers and remove the material.
The missing material could potentially make numerous bombs.
Understatement of the day.
Richardson just cannot seem to "keep up" with anything under his charge, can he?
blow the doors off allot of churches
Light a match and look around. ;^)
Evidently a planned crime, and not just somebody making off with explosives that were lying around carelessly.
I think they'd better catch these guys. And what's with the Sandia Labs connection? I wonder why they mention that?
The missing deta sheet is what really worries me.
I'm more concerned about the Detasheet material, although the C4 is worrisome enough.
The problem is that it's so easy to slip a pre-cut Detasheet into a FedEx, UPS, or Express Mail envelope. I won't go into the possibilities of detonation triggers, but they're not too hard to imagine.
I hope they run these thieves down before they can wreak their havok. In the meantime, if you or your business might possibly be a potential target for any reason, be very careful with express courier deliveries over the next few weeks.
This is potentially a very dangerous situation.
check Sandy Berger's backyard
whats with NM losing objects that are destructive in nature? didn't they recently also lose some enriched uranium?
Hopefully, this is just Wile E. Coyote bypassing those rip-off Acme guys!
"Officials" need to pay for their blunders, by losing their jobs, and retirements, and be brought up on charges of criminal neglect. Perhaps if there were consequences for their actions, they might understand why they make the big money as supervisors and managers.....
Fret?
Ping. I'm going to go watch t.v. for a bit. After this I'm totally burnt out.
Isn't there someone on this board who know about C4? In the movies, it only takes about a fist-sized chunk to blow a hole in a safe. I believe, in experienced hands, this could make a whole crapload of backpack bombs.
