SAN QUENTIN, California (CNN) -- Convicted killer and Crips gang co-founder Stanley Tookie Williams was executed early Tuesday at the California state prison at San Quentin.
The execution went ahead as scheduled after the U.S. Supreme Court late Monday rejected a last-ditch appeal.
The high court's ruling followed California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to deny clemency for Williams, 51, who received a lethal injection at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday (3:01 a.m. ET).

That is a demonstration of how far downhill our society has gone. Someone convicted of four murders is hailed as a hero by a group of morons, while innocent people have to fear retaliation. Ed Asner, Mike Farrell, Bianca Jagger, Jesse Jackson, and all the rest of the celebrity wannabes can STFU.
Tookie's supporters were acting like thugs and brownshirts.
Now that Tookie's gone, I'll bet the media makes sure that her home state and other personal info is "accidentally" made public. They won't forgive the people "responsible" for Tookie's death, and will want revenge.
How else do thugs and brownshirts act?
This criminal didn't even ask for a spiritual advisor in his last hours. What's that all about? May God have mercy on this misguided soul.
Hey, weren't Jamie Foxx and Jessie Jackson two of Tookie's biggest supporters? On the radio this morning, they were talking about Terrell Owens birthday bash last night, and both were in attendance. Guess they got over their 'grief'
MASH was ruined when Wayne Rogers left. Wayne's a Pubbie.
That is always the hope, but the fact that the Tookster did not even own up to his crimes shows that repentance was apparently not in him.
If I were a murderer on Death Row, and if I found Christ in the 20+ years between my conviction and execution, I would embrace the death I would richly deserve, and look forward to a better heareafter. After all, as Paul said: "To live is Christ and to die is gain." (Phillipians 1:21)
How indeed. The leftie MSM runs the show. Did the news source you heard mention the victims families? That would be refreshing. I actually haven't been listening much to news here because I grew weary of hearing about his 'apologies' which sounded more like defense of his gang and gang lifestyle and sympathy for them.
Amen to that.
Name something that isn't.
Next up: Mumia.
I actually think Tookie could appreciate the "celebratory" mood. He's just being spared the sawed off shotgun part and element of suprise.
Yeah, but doesn't the echo chamber get old after so long?
What's with all these "May God Grant Tookie Peace...etc..." stuff? I am pretty certain he is nowhere near God at this time (probably someplace condsiderably warmer)
You should use that on a ZOT thread hehe
Hasta la vista, baby!
This man laughed about shooting an innocent man to death while he begged for his life-one does not "redeem himself" from something like that by writing a couple of books.Well said.
I agree - this world is getting crazier by the day. Not one mention of the destruction of the four lives and souls that may not have known the Savior and were condemned to eternal hell.
Just who is "Tookie" to be the one deciding the death of others. Sure is a different story when he is on the receiving end of others decisions isn't it?
I also see no concern for those 4 lives from the defenders of the murderer. I often wonder if these "has been" actors are "paid" for their vocal support by the "other side" or if they sincerely always support anti-American views, anti-moral views, anti-humanity views. Either choice is sure not very complimentary of them and sure alienates the very people they want to consider them idols.
