Gov. Shwarzeneggar expected to make announcement on Tookie Williams Execution Clemency shortly according to Fox News.
Thanks, Sarge. You know where I am ...
So, will this now be the Riot Watch live thread?
Sounds like the ref after looking at an instant replay.
Well that might a little too quick :). I prefer something in the range of 1 conviction 2 appeals withing 2 years and sentence execution. It's unfair to the victims to have the convicted killer on stage for 22 years. Really a sham.
Ahnold shocked me. I thought they were completely nuts out west.
We are a nation of laws. Start messing with that and you might be surprised by the result. Remember we have a very free and vocal minority in this country.
If the voting public wants to stop the practice of state sanctioned killing they need to vote in people who will do their bidding at the legislature. Until then, it's the law.
I am with you. I have even had a brother murdered. However I do make exceptions for the unrepentent and the extreme murders who leave us no doubt. However also, some o this glee and joy over this makes me rather unhappy. We shouldnt rejoice over anybodies execution or murder.
They're calling Arnold a RINO...I don't see him like that. I'll never forget that great speech he gave at the RNC for President Bush. Except for Zell...Arnold out shined everyone else, IMHO.
I totally agree wtih you....I think most people like you said don't give a crap...just the Hollyweird crowd...and if there are riots, it will be isolated.....
If sonmeone receives the Death Penalty they should be executed within 5 years at the max. 22 years is ridiulous, he's older now why bother killing him? The should put him in charge of the SCARED STRAIGHT program.
Richard Ramirez, Ken Bianchi Cold Blooded Serial Killers are still alive WHY?
Not by me. I don't yell.
As far as yelling -- like it or not it comes with liberty. Yelling can happen over abortion for and against. When it's a human life, it's understandable that people will have strong views.
Even if people didn't yell, people have authority over their governance, which they may exercise at election time. The Governor makes the decision and then we will see what comes of it.
I don't think that the Governor shies away from emotional issues because people yell. Else why would he have taken on the unions in California?
You worry that yelling will persuade the Governor not to give clemency. I think the bigger concern that you might have is the overall electorate. But I am honest enough to say that if the Governor really personally believes in giving him clemency he will do so.
The Klingons have a saying: "Today *is* a good day to die."
Tom Jones I think.
The connection need not make sense. Look at what sparked the recent riots in France - had about as much connection as Tookie does. Certain people are just looking for an excuse to lash out, and if enough of them do to hit critical mass, you get a riot.
Well, AMEN and Hallelujah to that!
Could someone photoshop a piece of toast with Tookie's face on it?
Thanks for the update
Only when they are exactly 180 out of phase.
