I was just called by an NBC pollster
nbc ^ | 12/10/05 | me

Posted on 12/10/2005 8:28:04 AM PST by alnick

I was just called by an NBC pollster. I found it interesting that I was first asked if I think the country is headed in the right or wrong direction, and only after I answered "right," did the man ask my age, and then tell me, "Oh, I'm sorry. The computer is screening for age groups and we're not looking for opinions from your age group at this time. Maybe we'll call you for your opinion later."

Now, it seems to me that they're screening for right way/wrong way opinions as opposed to age group. Why else would they have asked that question before asking my age.

I suspect the computer is programmed to allow a certain, lower, percentage of right way responses than wrong way, so they can report that the American people believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, and use that poll "result" as a club with which to beat this adminstration.

THere are many things I believe are bringing this country in the wrong direction. I mean, the media themselves, including NBC, are the very ones I hold most responsible for the country headed the wrong way, but I was not about to give them ammunition to make things even worse.

Any reputable polling company would have asked the demographic questions first in order to determine if you fell into a category they needed to poll.

I'd email Gibson and/or O'Reilly with that experience and ask them to look into it or if they have heard that before. Might make for an interesting segment. JMHO

Just ask Dick Morris how a President Bill Clinton can have a 65% Job Approval in poll after poll in 1996 and get only 49.2% of the vote.

The inflation of the poll was to discourage weak GOP morons who still believe MSM bilge. The same is being done today in order to allow moderates to become flaky and manipulate average voters into believing a fake reality when it comes to President Bush.

Still, even today their are conservative voters and pundits still David Brooks/Bill Kristol feckless enough to cave to such propaganda.

The Weekly Standard has jumped the shark being more blatant about "big government conservatism"

Bill Kristol was asked about the GOP web ad.

He said, "It was probably a bad idea."

I am betting that Kristol received daily wedgies while in Grammar School and High School.

Just more proof that polls are RIGGED!!

I have never believed in polls, never will. Personally I believe that these pollsters just go through the motions to appear to be polling people. When, in reality, they have already figured out the 'results' they are going to show people.

Or, polls are worded in such a way as to get the 'results' that the pollster wants.

Or, the poll 'results' are paid for (can you say Zogby?).

Or, pollsters just throw out 'results' they do not agree with and report the ones they do agree with (again, usually fabricated 'results').

Polling companies are frauds. Polls are frauds.

Do NOT believe in polls!

And that was before he destroyed Dan Quayle's career.

Conservatives need Kristol's advice like America needs the French.

I would write a letter to the editor or your local paper explaining exactly what you just said to us, asking the reader, why do you think they did this? Next time you hear some MSM poll numbers, think about what you just read.

BS. The first question when they are looking for a specific age or gender is "are there any of that age group or gender at home?

I once worked as a telephone interviewer for a polling firm. You're 100% correct! If age was the most important then it would have been the first question asked. Otherwise it would be a waste of the interviewer's time. They only wanted people who believed that the country was going in the wrong direction! Good thinking!

Can believe it -- especially from NBC.

Guess they don't want to hear the truth or have anyone else hear the truth.

Teeter has been replaced with McInturff, (who conducted the polling for Senator John McCain presidential campaign )...

http://www.pos.org/about/mcinturff.asp

Bill conducted the polling for Senator John McCain's presidential campaign and continues to be actively engaged in American politics, conducting national survey research on behalf of the Republican Governors Association. Working with Democratic pollster Peter Hart, Bill is the Co-Director of the NBC News/Wall Street Journal National Poll. ...

I've never believed in 'polls'.

(i.e.)The Presidents's "approval rating" is about 95% in my office. This info is easily gathered from speaking with co-workers and friends.

How come my family, co-workers and I never are officially polled?

All B.S. skewed sideways by a bunch of whining libs, IMO.

Either the person conducting the poll was crooked and acting independently, or he was acting according to instructions from the organization. Either way, the only explanation is that someone was looking to skew the poll, and you were not desirable for their predetermined end result. Time is money, so your interview was quickly jettisoned.
