A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

With the holiday season in full swing and Christmas fast approaching, I asked a Few of Our Finest to set some of their finest Christmas tables to present throughout these next few weeks. Each one has chosen her own theme, and no one else has seen it. Today our featured guest artists are deadhead and tuliptree76.

I hope you enjoy and appreciate their beautiful Christmas offerings as much as I do. It's always rewarding when we have our Finest' contributions, but never moreso than during the Christmas holidays.
Thank you, Colleen and Tulip!

Ornament Wreaths

Every year, I make one or two ornament wreaths as gifts. They are very easy to make, even for those of us who aren’t very crafty! The following is how to make an ornament wreath.

You will need:
(1) A circular wreath form (Large or small)
(2) Ball Christmas ornaments (glass, plastic, or satin – all sizes and colors)
(3) A glue gun and hot glue

Dab a little glue on the wreath form where you would like to place an ornament, and then attach the ornament to the form. Make sure the metal or plastic loop on the ornament faces in towards the form so that it doesn't show when the wreath is finished. Keep adding glue and ornaments until you cover the front and sides of the wreath form. Don't put any ornaments on the back of the form so that it can easily hang on a wall.

I like to put the larger ornaments as a base around the form and use the smaller ornaments to fill in the gaps between the larger ornaments. I also like to start at the back of the wreath and move to the front, but there is no set way on arranging the ornaments. After you cover the form, you can add bows or other decorations if you like. Also, add a wire or string to the back so you can hang it.

Hint: Add the string or wire to the wreath form before you add the ornaments. It will make tying the string easier.

And now you have a beautiful wreath for you or someone else to enjoy!

Merry Christmas!

Good morning, dutchess. Love doing these threads and so glad that all of our talented Freepers agreed to do a Christmas thread for us.

Colleen and Luvbo also thought of a great idea for Christmas, which I decided to do for the upcoming weekend thread. It should be fun! Details on Friday. :)

Not that cold and no snow yet. Probably at night it is nearly freezing but during the day not warm but not really cold.

Mum is out of hospital and back to the home. They have put her in the nursing wing. The room she has is very similar to the one she had before but it is freshly decorated.

I put up a little Christmas display in her room even if she does not understand she will like the colours and the fibre optic tree.

A truly lovely thread ... thank you, ladies ... )))

One good thing about all this controversy re: Christmas ... I'm more aware of, and in, the Christmas spirit than ever.

Went to a Christmas party last week ... when greeted with "Happy Holidays", I made sure to respond with a hearty Merry Christmas and a pat on the back.

what a nice display for mum.. you are a good daughter. As much as my mom drives me crazy a good part of the time the reason she does is that she has a strong will & good mind yet. So that is a blessing (although an annoying to me)... I guess I would rather have my situation than yours, snugs.

Been putting out fires..well actually feeding one.. today. Have raised the temp in the house a few degrees by burning stuff IN firepace in the room under my moms. Have used a fan to get some of the heat into house rather than just out the flue.... found some old magazines from 70s.. prolly worth something on ebay? who knows.. but now they are gone. Did a little drying out as well as heat adding.

I cant burn much more w/out taking out all the ash.. lots of it from the paper Might just let it end soon & cover it up rather than take a chance of the flames etc getting out. will see if I can find the metal pans I used last spring. I think they are full of frozen water outside. Had not planned on using fireplace at all this year..

Hoping my furnace man will be here today. his wife said he has 4 other out furnaces.. so might not be until Thursday.

for some reason the space heaters down here are blowing out the circuits & so I can't use them. The home is NOT that old but it seems all is going to pot at once on it.

Have toby's appt tomorrow at 2. It is about a 90 mile trip. Poor guy. I took some pix but to show you all but I think they would be poor taste. the split on the front LARGE tow pad is quite deep and completely across the toe pad. He wont just set still either.. has to follow me around to basement, fireplace. limps heavily & if I try to see it, he cries..

Afternoon y'all. Lookin' good the way you three have decorated the place. :)

Mrsdd does the decorating around here and I get to carry the boxes, put up the tree and string the lights. I'm usually talking to myself by the end of the day wondering how a perfectly good string of lights can suddenly go bad once they are placed on the tree. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya.

Colleen, Logan really enjoyed the birthday balloons and he says, "Thank You."

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for your contributions, deadhead and tulip, and for posting them today, Billie. I think it makes it really special when we invite others to share their talents here, and Christmas time is a prefect time to do this.

I might just try making one of those wreaths. :-)

Brought some flowers for our Finest table.

Thanks, snugs. I hope your sweet mum does enjoy the little tree - it brightens the room, and *you* will enjoy it when you visit her, too.

Thank You so much, Billie for the lovely presentation today. Was happy and honored to be a part of the 'Christmas table thread'.

Thank You all, your lovely comments are appreciated so very much. Keep on saying 'Merry Christmas' :-) Happy that Logan liked his balloons, DD. Hoping that Toby is doing Ok, Dolly.

That is terrible you're having to wait, and wait, and wait for so many days without heat inside. :( If you're having to make do with whatever you can, and however you can, it's no wonder there are people literally freezing to death in their homes every winter. I'm sure most of them are not as resourceful as you are and *have* to rely on others.

Really worried about Toby - it sounds more like it should have been an emergency visit and not wait for an appointment two days after he hurt himself.

Et tu, DD? And they always wait to go bad after the tree is fully decorated and the living room is put back together and you just want to sit back and admire your beautiful tree, when OOPS! part of it just went dark!
