Joshua Sparling just got to Walter Reed last week and received ONE letter from someone writing in a child's printing. Among other things it told him to die. The soldier has the card on the wall of his room. I know FReepers can counter this despicable action with some of our own letters.

Thank goodness that Brian and Col. Hunt broke this story. That poor guy would have been stewing in this injustice the whole Christmas Holiday.

That is the address of a soldier that received one card. That Card written in a child's hand wished him death. That card was the only one that he received in the week that he has been there.
Brian Kilmeade mentioned this on Fox & Friends during the first hour of the show at 6am.this morning.
I called Walter Reed and was told that the patients appreciated calling cards especially at Christmas time.
I am sending him a card with several calling cards to distribute to other patients in his ward.
Anyone else interested in doing the same for others at Walter Reed? Call and get a soldier's name to send a card. The number is (202)782-3501.
I am sending a get well card, a Christmas card and $240.00 in phone cards for Joshua to keep and/or distribute to his buddies. Anyone want to match me and send some to other soldiers at Walter Reed?

I wouldn't hesitate to bet that this wasn't sent by a "kid" at all. Just made to look that way.

I love that crazy Brian but I missed that part of the show. This has got my hair on fire. I'm going to get with Coop and ask him take my card with some money in it. We gotta fight back LF - know you will. I hate the thought of a DU type snickering somewhere that his plan was successful. I do not believe this was a child working alone, do you?

Bought my card today and (this sounds silly) started crying even as I was purchasing it at the thought that anyone in this world could be so cruel to a soldier. I couldn't help it. I went back to the store and just boo-hooed....scared my co-workers!

The same kind that protest outside of hospital gates with "Die for Halliburton" signs, or the same kind that carry "Your soldier is burning in Hell" signs to a servicemember's funeral.

I sent him a half dozen baloons with Thank You and Get Well Soon. I hope this also helps to lift his spirits. Its frightening what the low-lifes in this country will do to undermine our troops and the war on terror. Ungrateful democrat/libarals/media whores.
Just found a blog that is written by Joshua Sparling's brother-in-law, which tells a bit about how his injuries happened -- it's the part dated Nov. 29, 2005.

"His injury was due to an IED (improvised explosive device) that was activated while he was on patrol in Iraq. His shin was severely fractured and pieces of it are missing as well as a lot of muscle and skin as well. Today or tomorrow they begin reconstructing his leg. This will take five or more different surgeries. The plan is to strengthen and heal the remaining bone and replace the missing part with a titanium rod. They will also need to use muscle from his thigh to replace the muscle lost in his lower leg and then graft skin from his back to his leg. Praise the Lord he still has feeling in all five of his toes, but no mobility. Doctors have high hopes for his leg although the recovery will be between 12-18 months.
"Continue to pray for Josh's physical as well as spiritual condition. It will be very difficult for Josh to go from a healthy and strong 24-year-old soldier to a weak and almost helpless patient. Pray that God will use this tremendous trial in his life."
