Bush plans anti-illegals campaign
The Washington Times ^ | November 28, 2005 | Bill Sammon

Posted on 11/27/2005 10:27:55 PM PST by ConservativeStatement

President Bush today will call for a crackdown on illegal immigration, a move aimed at further rallying conservatives who recently cheered Mr. Bush's tough talk on Iraq and the Supreme Court. But the president will also renew his call for a program to allow Mexicans who have already entered the U.S. illegally to remain here for up to six years. That initiative has long angered conservatives who equate it with amnesty.

I would love to see Mr. President retract his remarks about the Minutemen and give them some thanks and praise instead.
They deserve it and he would be well advised to befriend this movement of good and decent people.

I for one am anxiously waiting here to what President Bush has to say. He needs to realize that amnesty will not be acceptable though.AWB

Bush plans anti-illegals campaign

It'll be worthless but designed to generate headlines, to give the illusion of serious action. So as to give the GWBush illegal alien amnesty political cover. GW has had 6 years to show he's serious about enforcing our borders and deporting illegal aliens, most especially illegal aliens who commit crimes here. He did diddly squat. The hacks in DC think illegal immigration is a joke.

Hey, this is going to be another chance to slam Bush. Such fun. He won`t go as far as Tancredo wants (who could) and thats not enough. How about impeaching him?

And, if it hurts the war effort against terrorism and puts our troops in harms way, so what? Bush won`t go house to house, grapping Mexicans and thats what we want.

Other than Ronaldus Magnus, he was my favorite President in my lifetime. However, ever since his 'Vigilante' comment with respect to the Minutemen, I've been forced to seriously reconsider that position.

Well, he just lost ANY hope of carrying the very important illegal immigrant vote. Thank god he's not running again.

"I'm not holding my breath for anything effective."

Well I bet it will be calibrated to be just enough to use for Election Year.

But now is four years too late, so I expect it will be too little, as well.

I've asked this question before and have just gotten attitude in response..

Why aren't the Minutemen vigilantes?

Now, I wouldn't call them vigilantes, but people with good common sense... but aren't they vigilantes?

Please let me know.

I live in Oregon. This evening, my wife and I drove to WALMART to buy a few items. I was ASTONISHED by the number of shoppers speaking Spanish. It had to have been 1/3.

Please, Sir, we voted you back in as President because we trusted you to look out for us. Please deal decisively with the issue of illegal immigration.

Not quite. Start enforcing employer sanctions and illegal aliens will self deport themselves. They come here to work? According to you goofs at least. So no jobs= no money. Means they go back home and America isn't their home

The Minutemen are the best example of self-government in our generation.
