"I've asked this question before and have just gotten attitude in response..
Why aren't the Minutemen vigilantes?
Now, I wouldn't call them vigilantes, but people with good common sense... but aren't they vigilantes?
Please let me know."

They are acting within the confines of the law. They are undocumented Civilian Border Patrol Agents, simply doing the jobs that other Americans don't want to do. for FREE :)

Thank God for the Minutemen!

"Then lets start by knocking the walls down around your gated community."

I don't live in one and never have. Not even when I lived in Arizona or New Jersey. Gated communities provide the same false sense of security as home alarms and car alarms. You are better off with a dog, and a gun.

"If fences don't work then why is it everywhere you go there they are, at schools, homes, even the White House?"

This isn't directed at you personally since your comments merely represent an alarming trend on this site...but is it impossible for people to make the distinction between a fence around one or two acres of land and 6000 miles!?!!? Do you really not understand the difference between a fence around a prison and a several thousand mile fence along some of the most desolate land on our planet?

You are better off with a dog, and a gun.

Absolutely! But, that hasn't deterred many from putting up many thousands of miles of community curtain wall, and hiring armies of security gaurds to man them. Investing a fraction of this effort along the border would probably help quite a bit. We still may miss the individual fence jumper, but the organized convoys would be history.

A fence, no matter how fortified will never completely stop illegals, the goal is only to slow them down and make the situation more manageable. They can't just put a fence up and forget about it, they'll need to equip it with sensors, build roads and have a border patrol that continously monitors the area. In the San Diego sector that has already been proven effective and it needs to be done throughout the rest of the border.

Be strong, Mr. President.

For what? Amnesty for millions who have spit in the face of every immigrant who came here legally?

I'm actually more concerned with the islamofascists entering from Canada,

Yeah, that Canadian Border is sure scary!

reported in the Sierra Vista (AZ) Herald (Per HiJinx) [Border Patrol] Agents nationwide were assaulted 687 times, with all but one occurring on the border with Mexico.

Besides that you've been shown over and over the reports of middle eastern paraphenalia being found on the S. border, reports of terrorist apprehensions and testimony by Rumsfeld and many others of their fears that terrorists have crossed.

another analogy. When you are suffering from a roach infestation, you will never get rid of them until you remove the reason they came into your house in the first place. No amount of spraying and NO attempt to seal your house will work. You've got to remove the lure.

Right you are about removing the lure. Start fining any employer that hires an illegal alien, and if they continue to do so, throw them in the clink. However, back to the fence. I assume you listened to Bush's speech on the border situation, within which he stated that there would be fences built at appropriate points on the border where they would do the most good. So you must now attack Bush to make your point that fences are useless.

Of course, those who employ illegals have deep, deep pockets, and probably contribute to both parties (hence President Bush wanting to allow current illegals to stay in the country for up to six years).

Yeah, and like all the illegals will pick up and leave after the six-year period is up (wink, wink).
