CNN'a story neglects to say that it could have been done manually, but that they had ruled that out somehow. I once was a control room operator for a live TV production and though it was over 30 years ago, I remember how I could manually reproduce what was done to Cheney. One way you switch between video sources to select the one to go out over the air to move the "wiper". It looks like a T-handled lever, like an automatic transmission lever on your car's console. Except, instead of being one handle, it's split down the middle into two separate components. The handles are wired to act oppositely. One handle adds signal as you move to the top, the other removes it. If you grab both at the same time and move them together, one video input fades out and one comes in. If you held the handle with the Cheney video at full strength and rapidly moved the other handle to the other end of it's travel and back, you'd get what was seen. It's only a few inches of travel. Secondly, you could switch without using the wiper. There are switches where you simply go from one video input to another without using any "effect" controlled by the wiper. Those switches are "make before break" so there's no interruption of signal. Tap one of those so that it makes contact but does not latch and disconnect the first video source and you'll get that same effect, superimposed video. Believe me, it is easily possible to mannually do what was done to Cheney.
With this new Clooney movie out about McCarthy (and it will probably win a lot more awards) we are being indoctrinated again about this "evil man". I just wish we could get a real and honest perspective on him and that era. What is real about it, what is not. I know Ann Coulter tried and look how her approach is treated.
What are the odds that it would "randomly" happen to Cheney??

Nicely done!
Computer glitch, eh? I thought that explanation went out in the 80's as people became more computer-savvy and recognized that "computer glitch" was just code for "human error". It's really an indictment of CNN's audience if they can offer a lame excuse like that and their viewers will swallow it.
In the 25 years CNN has been on the air, this is the one-and-only time I've ever heard of this happening.
And it just happens to occur while Dick Cheney is on the air, and what's more at a time when his muscular reaction to Dem propaganda has made him an MSM target? That is WAY too much coincidence for me.
"Bruce! Stop that, you silly guy! Now we're going to have to come up with some excuse to blame the damn computers. Call in all the tech guys!"
I still think michael moore works as official "coffee-boy and glitch manufacturer" in the CNN control room.
Next week, they'll make it happen to an old replay of Gary Hart and Donna Rice and then they can say, "See! It WAS a computer glitch."
It reminded me of Janet Jackson and her "wardrope malfunction" excuse. They can amaze us with special effects, weather forcasters can walk in the clouds when giving the weather, but cnn claims the cant put an X on the screen on purpose. cnn are liars all day and all night.
Yes, really smart of them. This latest junior high bird flipping will lose even more viewers.
It can't gain them any as all of the DUmmies are already watching.
But then if they were smart, they wouldn't be dim/libs.
Reminds me of the liberals saying Sandy Berger got caught with classified papers in his pants because of sloppiness.
Losers!
It is incomprehensible that the "X" incident could have been anything but purposeful. This is the era of digital electronics. 'On' or 'Off'. I will not believe that the equipment could go "accidently" through a number of required steps to perform this feat.
It HAD to be done on purpose.
Well, two out of three...I do NOT watch TV...but then I am no Liberal!
Yes, those wonderful unbiased folks at CNN aka...
Liberalism is the most periolous danger to the USA in the 21st Century. Wc can defeat terrorism, but Liberalism will rot us from within.

Just cutting & pasting...it's what I do best ;-)
