A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Greetings!

There are many things for me to be giving thanks for this year. It was an interesting year, 2005 was, for me as well as for everyone else.

Yes, there were troubling times, from earthquakes to tsunamis and hurricanes. Also political troubles as well. All set to bring us down to the depths of depression and defeat.

At least it would if we let it!

So this year I decided to say to those demons of depression “Go away!” and ask God to enter and take over. But, first I need to take some time out to thank Him for the blessings overlooked because of the negative stuff that went on.
  1. I thank You, My Lord God, that we were given 4 more years of a decent and good man in the Oval Office.

  2. I thank You, My Lord God, that I was blessed with a year of health and a year more of life.

  3. I thank You, My Lord God, for my family, and for their continued good health and prosperity. For their successful surgeries, and their new jobs as well as new lives with marriages, and parenthood for my nephews and nieces.

  4. I thank You, My Lord God, for a wonderful mother and father.

  5. May You continue to bless and protect all my relatives and friends as well as the USA and President Bush and his family.
Now, those are just a few of my "Thank You's” ; I thought I’d ask you to add some of yours.
May God Bless You All !

~ Pippin

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over head and a place to sleep... You are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace... You are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness... You are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation... You are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death... You are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If your parents are still alive and still married... You are very rare, even in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful... You are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them, or even touch them on the shoulder... You are blessed because you can offer healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore... You are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Have a good day, count your blessings, and pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

A great presentation to draw our focus to what we sometimes take for granted when we should be offering thanksgiving to the One who provides.

Arriving late allows me the opportunity eavesdrop on some posts and thereby nudge my memory of Thanksgivings past, first as a child, then an adolescent. Next comes Thanksgiving dinners - US Navy style, followed by beginning traditions with our own family. The cycle never ends. As a child, it meant Thanksgiving dinner with grandparents, aunts, Mom and Dad and siblings gathered around the big oak dining room table with the littleones seated in the childrens section. Family nests began to grow smaller, parents became grandparents. Some moved to new locations to start their own traditions, but it is always a time for family to gather together. How lucky mrsdd and I are to experience those family get-togethers multiple time throughout the year. Closing, giving thanks for family, friends, our troops, country and a loving God who gave us His Son.

Reading your list it is striking how easily we forget the things that as Americans we have to be grateful for.

P.S. I am grateful for good looking, conservative Godly masculine men too!

Hey!,what about the rest of us.</shamelessly searching for a compliment>

I will add as a guy,one of Gods greatest gift to men is a fine looking lady who is as beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

That is an awesome list.

FReeper 'SoldiersPrayingMom' has a son serving in OIF, and he is FReeper 'jmpmstr4u2.'

Also, 'WakeUpandVote' has a brother serving in OIF,
and 'Skyraider' has a son serving in OIF.

'CMS' just became active duty.

This thread is gorgeous, really like that extra gold table on the left and the pretty gold divider plus the sparkles you added to the leaves. Lots of nice touches to this one.

Pippin your thoughts have such clarity and are so honest, another great effort on your part.

Am thankful to God for America's many blessings and that I have had the good fortune to live in America my whole life and the VERY good fortune to live in a VERY red State. :)

Thank you for the additions to our Military Prayer List - and thanks for addressing your post to all of us. I'll send an FR mail to the others in case they miss this thread, and those names should be on the next list you see. I believe dutchess is doing tomorrow's. :)

Thank you so much, Sistah A! Pippin's thoughts are always sweet, sincere - not hard to see they come straight from her heart.

Good news.... Matthew (my 21 year old nephew) had his second surgery today. They got most of the blood clot out "above the knee". Still some below but think they can deal with that with bloodthinners. (he was hit by a car last weekend) If all go's well he leaves ICU tonight but still will be in the hospital until Saturday or Sunday. He was planning on doing a college "exchange" in New Zealand starting January and I'm sure that will be put on hold. Just thrilled that he seems on the road to recovery. Life is indeed fragile. Have appreciated all your thoughts and prayers.
