A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Greetings!
There are many things for me to be giving thanks for this year. It was an interesting year, 2005 was, for me as well as for everyone else.
Yes, there were troubling times, from earthquakes to tsunamis and hurricanes. Also political troubles as well. All set to bring us down to the depths of depression and defeat.
At least it would if we let it!
So this year I decided to say to those demons of depression Go away! and ask God to enter and take over. But, first I need to take some time out to thank Him for the blessings overlooked because of the negative stuff that went on.
- I thank You, My Lord God, that we were given 4 more years of a decent and good man in the Oval Office.
- I thank You, My Lord God, that I was blessed with a year of health and a year more of life.
- I thank You, My Lord God, for my family, and for their continued good health and prosperity. For their successful surgeries, and their new jobs as well as new lives with marriages, and parenthood for my nephews and nieces.
- I thank You, My Lord God, for a wonderful mother and father.
- May You continue to bless and protect all my relatives and friends as well as the USA and President Bush and his family.
Now, those are just a few of my "Thank You's ; I thought Id ask you to add some of yours.
May God Bless You All !
~ Pippin

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over head and a place to sleep... You are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace... You are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness... You are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation... You are ahead of 500 million people in the world.
If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death... You are more blessed than three billion people in the world.
If your parents are still alive and still married... You are very rare, even in the United States.
If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful... You are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.
If you can hold someones hand, hug them, or even touch them on the shoulder... You are blessed because you can offer healing touch.
If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore... You are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.
Have a good day, count your blessings, and pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

Good Morning! It's almost Thanksgiving and our regular Thanksgiving thread will be posted on Thursday as it is every year, but today Pippin asked if she could share some of the things she is thankful for. We hope you will share some of yours with us, too.

We all need to learn to be thankful for any happiness we may have, no matter how little of it there is. No matter how bad things seem, they could always be worse. Also, don't look backward and berate yourself for bad decisions you've made in the past. Hope is the reason for going on, looking forward to a better life and a better world. Without hope, there is no reason for going on, no reason for giving thanks this season.

Difficult Days
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Psalm 23:6
|
We buried my wife's father 2 days before Thanksgiving, and every year the holiday is tinged with the sorrow of losing him. No doubt your calendar contains some of these difficult days that roll around once a year, bringing fresh reminders of losses that still hurt and people you still miss. A Wall Street Journal article calls these dates "emotional land mines" and says they may be even more difficult to face when they coincide with national holidays or anniversaries of significant events.
Grief counselors point out that taking a positive step can help us deal with grief. One year we planted a tree to mark the anniversary of a parent's death and the birth of a grandson on the same day. A scholarship fund or a memorial gift can benefit others while honoring the memory of a loved one. But a deep healing of spirit is a gift from God.
You may know Psalm 23 by heart, but try reading it with new eyes today. This familiar passage of comfort proclaims: "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life" (v.6). Not just some of the daysall the days.
When we traverse the emotional minefield of painful memories, the Good Shepherd is with us on every difficult day. David McCasland
Savior, please stay close beside,
Be my comfort, Lord, and guide,
When I'm troubled, tempted, tried,
May Your love and grace abide. Brandt
The sweetest experience of God's love can be found in times of sorrow.

Good morning, Rus. Enjoyed today's lesson. "The" holidays are about to officially begin, and always a time to reflect, and miss our loved ones who are no longer here even more.

Hi, Star, thank you - we're all in it together, aren't we! FR is the best place on the net to get together, and show such broad support for our leaders and our troops.

Wonderful thoughts pipster and billie you outdid yourself with the presentation. LOVE the border and graphics. Absolutely beautiful.
I'm especially thankful that my nephew went through the first surgery with flying colors. They removed about 80% of the clot in his leg. Remains in ICU as a precaution and has a second procedure today but the doctors think that will be it and he can go home tomorrow. Continued prayers for Matthew are appreciated.
P.S. I'm especially thankful for all our Finest Friends :o)
Off to work. BBL!
