From the article these questions from the troops:
"We've fought well." "We're helping to create a democracy." "Don't they want us to win?"
Peach, troops being demoralized when their mission is undermined is a huge problem. I think it helps when the politicians bring some history and perspective in when they talk about the war. It helped when we were reminded how long it took us to get our constitution ratified....it helped when we were reminded about the terrible cost of D-Day. And it helped when they remind us of the slaughter that happened after we left Viet Nam. The problem is they only toss out those facts once and think they will sink in.
We need a few good men and women who have the grit to say it and say it and say it. Ones to remind us often. They need to repeat the reminders. They need to accept that they will reach a few more every time they repeat the facts.
It's working for the "Bush lied" liberals.....
Not nearly as dangerous as rabid defeatism and "Surrender with out a fight" pessimism.
I remember President Bush saying that, I wish he would manhandle the arrogant bums more often. They are so dense they think the more they trash and slime him that he might give them more access to slime him further. Yutz is descriptive of the has been media on any given day.
PLease don't stop posting....I enjoyed your posts today...and I always enjoy reading what you have posted on other threads.
Thanks for posting the proposed Hayworth bill. Although it will undoubtedly have to be negotiated with the LIBS of this country who want NO BORDERS, I think it is a much better start than McCain or President Bush - both are Amnesty lite. Why would anyone believe the "guest workers" would go to the back of the line when we have a history of not enforcing our own immigration laws for decades?
You can ignore reality, but you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality. I wish you well, FRiend... /sigh
Boy, isn't that the truth? We the People need to get control of our schools again...
What started out as local people getting their kids together to teach them the 3 R's...has turned into propaganda factories, run by the government, instead of the local families.
Whoa...once again...great post and links...Thank you!
One of the most amazing things I've heard is Democrats still believing Carter is one of our greatest presidents, and that his involvment in human rights after leaving office is a wonderful example of how great he is.
Even now, they believe Carter and Clinton, being great presidents in their minds, should be speaking out to stop the Republicans from destroying their vision of America. Rockefeller talking to our enemies prior to the Iraqi invasion, no problem. Rockefeller was trying to save us from ourselves.
I am making a point of NOT shopping at any store that does not ackowledge that this is Christmas that is being celebrated on December 25th.
You're correct
A few days ago I got into a yelling match with one of my brothers .. the conservative one
He was gonna on about Bush's failed foreign policies about certain things
I proceeded to list a whole list of things the President has done .. and his response to me was "I didn't know those things happened"
I went off on him and told him that it was ignorant fools like himself that were going to get my kids killed by the terrorist because they don't pay attention and realize what many in the (lib) media are doing
Luckily this brother doesn't get mad at me for yelling at him ... *L*
But get this .. my one sister who is a dem .. her response to me when I mentioned the Dems want to impeach the President because of the war
She said that they might as well impeach themselves also .. because they voted for the war on the same intel the President had
Check it out, my quote has been corrected
It all depends on your meaning of 'extreme' Peach. ;^)
Well, as someone ealier pointed out to me, the polls are not conducted by the media, but by professional polling organizations. But I am not saying the polls are always accurate as there are three problems with polls. First of course is the political demographics, though the polling organizations say they normalize for that. Second is the language used in the question, and third is the margin for error. But every poll showing dramatic drops in both the President's approval and approval of the War in Iraq should not be ignored. Republican internal polls are showing similar results. It is not the end of the world, but they should be factored in to Republican political strategy.
Well said Peach.
