Murtha should be ashamed of himself for that remark. It is cold and callous, and self serving. I would rather look at 1000 disfigured heros faces than one damned dirty coward. What a sicko this guy is, he has sold his soul to the DNC. He is doing this to get out from under his flim flammery with Military supplies, and kickbacks.

This day has been another learning experience on FR.

1. I didn't attack you,I posted my experience with pollsters. If you consider that an attack, oh well.

2. My statement on perceived weaknesses was in reference to Republicans, not democrats.

3. Now pointing out condescension is condescension.

4. As you stated earlier, we have nothing more to discuss.

I have no intention of wrecking the Sunday thread with bickering. Apologies to Alas, MNJohnnie, Rodguy.

You can argue by yourself.

Last time I try to give another point of view on FR.

Terminology along the lines of The Peoples Republic of America is a subtle attempt to elevate altruism and the collective over individuality, capitalism and our market economy.

IF government actions are in the name of "the people" it MUST be okay and the right thing to do. Environmentalists are seen as selfless while property owners seen as greedy and selfish.

It all begins with brainwashing children in public schools and television into believing collectivism is a desirable goal for society, and shaping their political philosophy early in life.

Change will come if and when child bearing adults begin to control the education establishment and require change, IMHO

"... obvious that the Dems had this plan brewing for a bit ..."

And not just the House dems. IIRC the moment the vote was taken, Kerry sent out an email whining about the repubs smearing Murtha.

I have only been responding to pings and haven't been reading the thread, M, and so am not helping you out much here.

No problem. We got off on a tangent about polls rather than what my point earlier was about the strategy of the Democrats. But most here feel all is well and the polls are all lies. And thanks for reposting the article by North. It's the same thing that happened in Vietnam. If anyone thinks that kind of crap does not both demoralize the troops and embolden the enemy, they have never truly been in combat. The Republicans need to step up soon or the war will be lost and the elections next year will be problematic.

And I assume then that all of the polls are illusions also?

Yes. Increase the Republican sample by 1/3 decrease the independents and the Dems samples and poll only people who have voted in the last 2 elections and are likely to vote in the next one and you will see MASSIVELY different numbers. Or simple poll 50-50 and require any "Independents" to ID who they voted for in the last 3 elections to determine if they are a "leans Demo" or "Leans Repbo".

Like any other statistic Polls can be manipulated to get the result you want. Manipulating the polls to panic Repbo pols into revolting against Bush IS part of the "Democrats grand plan". So while there HAS been slippage in Bush's numbers it is NO where near what the Media polls are showing. But as I said before, if panic about the polls get Conservatives off their whiny butt and DOING things, Let us HYPE the Dinosaurs Media polls.

Sending out email is no big deal. The vote was a great victory and we most definitely kicked their rear ends and yes they do know it.

I have been on cloud 9 all weekend. Can't wait for Rush Limbaugh :)

Seven House Republicans, including three Texans, have called for a get-tough assault on illegal immigration, submitting legislation that would subject illegal immigrants to felony jail sentences and impose stiff fines and jail time on their employers.

Rep. J.D. Hayworth, Arizona, described the 115-page proposal as 'a call to action' to overturn decades of lax federal enforcement on millions of illegal immigrants and the employers who hire them. 'We must send a different message -- zero tolerance of illegal immigration,' Hayworth said.

The measure calls for:

It also calls for deploying military forces to help the Border Patrol keep illegal immigrants out. More than 11 million illegal immigrants, mostly from Mexico, are believed to be living in the United States, drawn by wages that are often 10 times higher than salaries in their native countries.

In a provision that could invite a constitutional challenge, the bill would end the practice of granting U.S. citizenship to any child born in the United States, unless at least one of the parents is in the country legally. The 14th Amendment to the Constitution declares that all people born or naturalized in the United States, 'and subject to the jurisdiction thereof,' are U.S. citizens.

Hayworth and his allies said the measure, which has at least 23 Republican co-sponsors, underscores the need for tough enforcement provisions as Congress considers a far-reaching overhaul of the nation's immigration laws. They denounced proposed immigrant guest-worker programs as a form of amnesty that would reward illegal behavior.

The measure would give illegal immigrants 30 days to leave the country voluntarily. Those who remained would be committing a felony and face up to a year in jail. The bill allows a defense for 'exceptional or extremely unusual hardship.'

Hayworth's bill also aims to cut off job opportunities that draw illegal immigrants, increasing fines against employers who hire illegal workers from $10,000 to $50,000. Jail terms for employers would be increased from six months to a maximum five years.

Hayworth Introduces 'Enforcement First' Immigration Reform Bill

WASHINGTON- U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth today introduced sweeping legislation containing core conservative principles that should guide the national effort to confront illegal immigration.

The Hayworth bill, a 115-page document incorporating new proposals authored by the Arizona Republican and a host of anti-illegal immigration measures offered by House conservatives, takes an enforcement first approach and rejects guest worker plans.

Hayworth said he hopes the Enforcement First legislation "will serve as a rallying point for the overwhelming majority of Americans that are dedicated to creating an effective, commonsense approach to immigration. If we leave this issue to the powerful self-interest groups in Washington, the opportunity to heal and strengthen our broken immigration system will be lost for generations and perhaps forever," Hayworth said.

During a Capitol Hill news conference on Thursday to announce the introduction of the "Enforcement First Immigration Reform Act," Hayworth said America's borders are being overrun by illegal aliens "and the blame for this failure rests squarely with the federal government."

One way would be to wish them a Merry Christmas.

On another front, an argument stopper is to ask these separation of church and state radicals, just who is going to pay for the removal of all the crosses in Arlington cemetery and the others around the country? Do we tear down the US Supreme Court building, along with other court buildings across the country, that have "In God We Trust" on them or should we cement over the words?

The polls however, would appear to be supporting them in their campaign

Polls they craft, conduct and report on. See the obvious problem for your line of reasoning here? Your whole argument revolves around trusting a media that has been caught in dozens of lies in the last 20 months. So we should trust proven liars to be accurate on THIS issue when we know they have lied to us about everything else concerning President Bush.?

I would love it if someone would post a picture from Spit Ball with Chrissy Mathews and photoshop it so that all his guests are shown wearing those masks like the Surgical team uses in the O.R. to avoid the blood spurting in their faces. I think they use them in the E.R. sometimes also. It would make me lose it, I would probably die laughing. You can tell I watch the Learning Channel a lot. LOL!

I know your history, M, and speak the truth about what happened in Vietnam.

And for those who think the military is happy about the lack of Republican support for their mission, I really have no words.

As to polls, I haven't had time to read the thread but gather that lots of folks here think they are all biased. And it's true that a lot of them are biased, but I rather doubt that the Fox News polls have been over sampling Democrats or asking leading questions.

And since Ollie North, who has been in Iraq with our soldiers has confirmed deteriorating morale, then I don't think the Fox News poll is very far off base.

I don't really care about polls, per se, but I DO care, and know you care greatly, about the morale of our military men and women who are risking their lives to protect us. Interesting that armchair statisticians on this thread seem to think that it's okay when Republicans are spineless and don't defend the administration and the military against the baseless charges we've seen flying around for a year now.

I'll check in later, M. Thanks for trying to get the truth out there. There are a few of us from military families who have been speaking out for a while now, and we always get criticized.

"Murtha said he had a Captain come into his office and complain that the Geneva Convention was not being followed by our soldiers"

That right there is actually true. We should be shooting the terrorists as "unlawful combatants" not giving them 3 hots and a cot. But that is not what Moveon Murtha is means here. -

I think everyone should watch the replay of MEET THE PRESS tonight on MSLSD....those that didn't would be shocked, I think, at how cliche, but demeaning and mean his interview was today...

He must have spent hours having MOVEON and DEM talking points drilled into his head...but he managed to get them out. It was disgusting...and you are correct, the reference to the injured soldiers at Walter Reed was "over the top" IMHO!
