Warren Community College President Defends Professor’s Harassment of Young Conservative
Professor Admits Radical Diatribe
Student Fights Back
HERNDON, VA –Young America’s Foundation exposed Warren Community College’s radical Professor John Daly, who in an email to student Rebecca Beach, vowed to intimidate those students who host conservative speakers and called for American soldiers in Iraq to murder their superiors.
Instead of admonishing the professor’s intemperate attack on a student’s right of free expression, Warren Community College President William Austin said Prof. John Daly has “first amendment rights” to harass Rebecca. Furthermore, the President is trying to bully Rebecca into silence. He said Rebecca, not Prof. John Daly, is ruining the college’s name by going on talk radio and television exposing Daly’s mean spirited email.
In an interview with the Express-Times, a local New Jersey paper, Daly stood by his email to Rebecca. He told the paper that Rebecca’s conservative group is an “ultra right-wing, possibly fascist, group.”
Daly’s email to Rebecca came after she sent a note to faculty announcing the appearance of decorated war hero Lt. Col. Scott Rutter to discuss America’s accomplishments in Iraq.
Daly’s unedited email can be read in full below.
“Prof. John Daly knowingly intimated one of his students. That’s not protected by the First Amendment,” said Jason Mattera, spokesman for Young America’s Foundation. “It was poor judgment to hire Daly to begin with. Warren Community College compounds their ineptitude by defending Daly’s harassment of Rebecca.”
LOL...I have long defined both liberalism and islam as, "learned mental illnesses." I was fortunate enough to have a number of conservative Profs who have long since retired or died off, and my alma mater has suffered a number of embarrasing mentions in the national press in recent years. I had a number of flaming liberal profs with whom I vehemently disagreed, but who honestly sought intellectual discourse, and never apparently let ideology influence my grades.
It seems such persons are no longer to be found in academia.

That is not quite true. ONLY the freedoms of the right will cease to exist.
Any emails to the "Professor" will just go into the bit bucket. We need to find out who controls the purse strings for this so called "college" and pressure them to shut it down completely.
I'll bet Alan's not looking forward to that. He'll have a tough time trying to deflect attention away from the professor and onto something important like whether Rebecca tied her shoes correctly before she came on the set.
I guess that since the professor called for the murder of military officers that turn about is fair play.

Actually in one of the old Soviet style countries...he'd be one of the Political Officers.
More than likely in charge of rounding up "radicals" like most of us here.
Perhaps the Pajamahadeen should do some research and find as many alumni as we can and let them know about this. Might be something they would want to know before they write that next check to the college!
Not the answer. We need to teach our kids to stand up to this crap . . . and have their backs when they do.

The email addresses for the board of trustees is there as well. There were some other threads on this topic which had postings from local citizens in the area and had telephone numbers for the Dean, President and the Board members.
This would explain the grammatical and spelling errors in Daly's e-mail.

Nah. He'd be a Che type, dragging OTHER people out of their houses and shooting them. He's a gutless wonder who would rejoice at the opportunity to lead some troops to murder helpless "enemies of the revolution."
There will only truly be Freedom in America when students train their guns on idiot liberal professors and frag them.

If I was a gambling man, and I am, I would wager that Prof. Daly believes the ACLU and the courts are what protect his 1st amendment rights.
Take it farther than that...something needs to be done in VA...maybe with Kristinn's help to let the State legislature and the Feds who give schools like this their grants...know exactly what kind of treasonous and seditious things are being said in the halls of "higher learning".
Amen! I was involved with the College Republicans back in the day and Young America's Foundation helped us sponsor some truly conservative guest speakers.
Not to picking nits, but Young America's Foundation and YAF are two separate organizations, right? If I'm not mistaken, YAF stands for "Young Americans for Freedom", who were involved in getting Reagan elected Governor back in the '60's.
