Warren Community College President Defends Professor’s Harassment of Young Conservative

Professor Admits Radical Diatribe

Student Fights Back

HERNDON, VA –Young America’s Foundation exposed Warren Community College’s radical Professor John Daly, who in an email to student Rebecca Beach, vowed to intimidate those students who host conservative speakers and called for American soldiers in Iraq to murder their superiors.

Instead of admonishing the professor’s intemperate attack on a student’s right of free expression, Warren Community College President William Austin said Prof. John Daly has “first amendment rights” to harass Rebecca. Furthermore, the President is trying to bully Rebecca into silence. He said Rebecca, not Prof. John Daly, is ruining the college’s name by going on talk radio and television exposing Daly’s mean spirited email.

In an interview with the Express-Times, a local New Jersey paper, Daly stood by his email to Rebecca. He told the paper that Rebecca’s conservative group is an “ultra right-wing, possibly fascist, group.”

Daly’s email to Rebecca came after she sent a note to faculty announcing the appearance of decorated war hero Lt. Col. Scott Rutter to discuss America’s accomplishments in Iraq.

Daly’s unedited email can be read in full below.

That’s not protected by the First Amendment,” said Jason Mattera, spokesman for Young America’s Foundation. “It was poor judgment to hire Daly to begin with. Warren Community College compounds their ineptitude by defending Daly’s harassment of Rebecca.”

I have been periodically searching DU all day for a story about this to be posted. As of yet it has not been posted. I wonder why!

From what I understand, accreditation is a joke anyway. To get accreditation, a school sets their own goals. When they demonstrate that they meet their own goals, however lowly or lofty, the are accredited. That's how it used to be anyway.

So let's see. Sanity is apparently not a requirement for employment as a teacher at Warren Community College. Nor is factual accuracy, nor professional conduct, nor self-discipline, nor even a mastery of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Evidently the college president and his hiring board look for other qualities, like left-wing extremism, fanatic adherence to anti-American propaganda, and the willingness to use their authority to bully and harass their students. I can just imagine what other pearls of education inhabit this school.

Subject: Problems accessing the public website for Warren County Community College

Dear sir,

The public website for the Warren County Community College seems to be having some sort of technical problem. The site is no requesting a user name and password to access.

 

I have never seen this situation where the general public is denied access to general information about a publicly funded institution and I am assuming this must be some sort of temporary technical issue which will be resolved soon.

 

Please can you have this corrected as soon as practical as there remain several thousand concerned citizens out here who are on pins and needles awaiting the announcement of Mr. Daly's release from his responsibilities at Warren.  We are all quite confident that you have no thoughts of keeping such an intellectual thug and outright criminal on your staff, not even as "part time".  If there remain any second thoughts on this issue, you should probably re-consider your options.

 

Looking forward to seeing the website open to the public again and to the new press release to be posted there soon.

I am truly astounded by your email. What a tremendous lack of character on your part. If you want to debate, make it a debate based on truth and ideas. Your tirade against this student is unforgivable. You should be ashamed, but alas, I fear you are beyond shame. You are no doubt convinced that you are correct in your behavior.



You are an embarrassment to the educational community. I spent over five years working with people like you. (God how I hate that term!) I am not surprised that such sad examples of the educational community are still teaching. I’m just saddened. Fortunately you are not an instructor for my child.
