Warren Community College President Defends Professor’s Harassment of Young Conservative

Professor Admits Radical Diatribe

Student Fights Back

HERNDON, VA –Young America’s Foundation exposed Warren Community College’s radical Professor John Daly, who in an email to student Rebecca Beach, vowed to intimidate those students who host conservative speakers and called for American soldiers in Iraq to murder their superiors.

Instead of admonishing the professor’s intemperate attack on a student’s right of free expression, Warren Community College President William Austin said Prof. John Daly has “first amendment rights” to harass Rebecca. Furthermore, the President is trying to bully Rebecca into silence. He said Rebecca, not Prof. John Daly, is ruining the college’s name by going on talk radio and television exposing Daly’s mean spirited email.

In an interview with the Express-Times, a local New Jersey paper, Daly stood by his email to Rebecca. He told the paper that Rebecca’s conservative group is an “ultra right-wing, possibly fascist, group.”

Daly’s email to Rebecca came after she sent a note to faculty announcing the appearance of decorated war hero Lt. Col. Scott Rutter to discuss America’s accomplishments in Iraq.

Daly’s unedited email can be read in full below.

“Prof. John Daly knowingly intimated one of his students. That’s not protected by the First Amendment,” said Jason Mattera, spokesman for Young America’s Foundation. “It was poor judgment to hire Daly to begin with. Warren Community College compounds their ineptitude by defending Daly’s harassment of Rebecca.”

a school sets their own goals

Not any more. I would much rather see a college set its own goals as long as they make sense than have a testing institution do it for them!

Sadly you are correct. These days the only type of "liberties) the ACLU seems to be defending (except in one rare case in Florida)are the liberties of Pervs and Atheists.

I spoke yesterday with a trustee who knew nothing about it but was incredulous. He wanted me to fax him the info. That may have led to the disclaimer on the college website.

Somehow, I just knew it would turn out that this POS Daly is from a California college.

This radical left wing POS should be dragged into the street and horsewhipped. For starters...

U.S.-imposed sanctions and war

Note the deceptive statement (but what else would you expect from an extremist such as the professor?) - the sanctions were imposed by the Security Council of the United Nations, not by the United States. UN resolution 661 which imposed the sanctions was approved by 13 votes in favor with none opposed and 2 abstaining. (Also see Use of Sanctions Under Chapter VII of the UN Charter - Iraq)

The 1991 Gulf War itself resulted from UN Security Council resolution 678 (among others), that authorized "all necessary means to uphold and implement Resolution 660", and which was adopted by the Security Council through a vote of 12 in favor, 2 opposed, and one abstention.

So, he should have said, U.N.-imposed sanctions and war. But as an anti-American, Commie dupe, he evidently can not bring himself to criticize his precious UN. Too bad, Professor Daly, anybody with access to the Internet can see for themselves that you are a liar.

I always wonder what kind of vehicle these "jaspers" drive? If they seriously think the war is about oil shouldn't they walk or bike to avoid contributing to the need for oil?

Had a socialist economics professor in college. He went on a 10 minute lecture about "buy American, buy American, buy American." After he stopped to breath I raised my hand and asked a simple question...

"Dr. Neal, after listening to your buy American speech, I was wondering why you drive a Jaguar?"

He was none to happy with the question. And this was many years before Ford bought Jag.

Had another professor give me back one of my papers with no grade on it. Just a note that said "too conservative, write again."

Good job sir! Let's hope there's some outrage among the Trustees and they take this "prof" to task.

THIS IS WHAT POPS UP WHEN YOU GO TO THE COLLEGE'S WEBSITE

http://www.warren.cc.nj.us/

Press Release
November 17, 2005

Warren County Community College is a "students first" college where learning without limits is always the main goal. We maintain a mission of building a community of learners through accessible, quality learning opportunities designed to meet personal aspirations for all students.

It has been brought to the administration's attention that a part-time instructor, Mr. John Daly, speaking for himself and using his personal email, sent a message to a student representing the Young Americans for Freedom in response to a personal email from her requesting him to announce an upcoming event on the campus. Mr Daly responded to her alone, and expressed his own personal views regarding his beliefs about this group.

The viewpoints of this professor in no way depict the views of Warren County Community College, its administration, or the Board of Trustees. The College does however support the constitution, the first amendment, and the right to free speech.

Additionally, Mr. Daly's message was sent as a one-to-one message, via e-mail, to one person, and not to the college community. Finally, the College is viewing this message as a personnel issue and will be addressing it according to the policies and procedures of the College.

Dr. Austin, college president stated, "I firmly believe every employee and student has first amendment rights, no matter how repugnant I personally find Mr. Daly's statements. Our attorneys have advised us of our obligation to follow state laws, board policies, and college due process in regards to any personnel matter. We are now investigating this matter further."

Real freedom will come when soldiers in Iraq turn their guns on their superiors and fight for just causes and for people's needs--such freedom fighters can be counted throughout American history and they certainly will be counted again.

So can the same thing be said about superiors on Stalinist campuses?? The only places Communism is still forced on people are N Korea, China, Cuba and Universities.

Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters

I have a feeling your examples may be fairly typical. We have lib friends who are like this...they say buy American but they have Japanese cars and they do believe the war is about oil and fear their son will be drafted, but they have 3 cars on the road. Of course they live 20mi from anywhere and biking or walking would be out of the question. Liberal logic. ;)

Subject: Fwd: Problems accessing the public website for Warren County Community College

Dear Ms. Leitch,

Thank you for the article regarding Mr. Daly and events at the Warren County Community College.  Below you will find a message just sent to Mr. Austin about the technical issues Warren seems to be having with their public website and I have also included a few URLs where this issue is being debated nationally online.

All for the good of the children, you can rest assured.

Best regards,

What a freaking cop out.

They hide behind the First Amendment to protect a Professor that advocates KILLING the protectors of his First Amendment "rights".

Disgusting.

Daly said. "Her group is an ultra right-wing, possibly fascist, group."

LOL Gee, wonder what he would have to say about FR. He would probably wee-wee his pants if he knew the level of how much we despise him - a wannabe bully. He's all big and bad writing that crap to a female student.

At any rate, I found a Warren Community College board that rates all the teachers. John Daly got one of the lowest scores and a frowny face.
