Hmmmm?? I believe it's you, Rod Dreher, who we will not take seriously.
Anybody with a brain knows that we cannot bring our troops home now .. unless we want the whole of the middle east to collapse and the attacks upon America to begin again.

The enemy finally got to Murtha. Oh, wait a minute, he is
part of the enemy. Forget it.
The Dems just love dragging out "decorated Vietnam Veterans" to plead their unilateral surrender case. John Kerry is the Poster Boy of that tactic.

I don't give a damn what Murtha says, the United States Marine Corps is not going to disgrace the memory of those who paid the ultimate price in Iraq and their families by pulling out before the job is finished. PERIOD!
And I called Murtha's office today and told them that exactly!
I also told Murtha's office that Murtha disgraced the Marine Corps today with his remarks.

As soon as the leaders of the party of "cut and run"...the democrats stand up on the public stage and admit to America that although the war has gone FAR better than anyone could have dreamed they would rather tell the mothers and fathers of all those who have died that their deaths were pointless because the democrats would rather make political hay over the effects of war in order to regain power rather than protect our country, complete the mission the soldiers have paid for with their blood and to create the conditions to prove Osama bin Laden correct regarding when he suggested the democrats did not have the stomach for conflict. The democrats would rather we all just surrender and become muslims. That goes a long way to explain why the leftists are loathe to admit that terrorism is done by muslims.

You never answered me or any of your critics on the last thread, how do you expect to churn any sympathy with this poor sad old man who the Democrats trotted out.

Rod Dreher is a self described Crunchy Con who cares too much how he is perceived by others. He is an unconfident conservative.
Murtha, IMHO, has long ago picked party over country. He is often dispatched by the fringe Lefties that run the party to give their unpatriotic policies cover.

I'd just like to add that Murtha is not conservative. I live in his district. Johnstown, the city which he is based is in ruin. His name is always in the paper for bringing some type of work to the area but the city remains a mess. However, his picture and name is plastered all of the place, billboards, streets, and buildings. I guess that is his idea of economic development. During the election of 2000 when the dems were trying to keep the military ballots from being counted, he was silent. He claims to represent the military but expressed little outrage when Gore lawyers attempted to disenfranchise the vote of soldiers.
He is a northeastern blue state democrat, not my idea of a conservative!

I respect Murtha enormously. Thus, when I heard he was having a speech, I thought surely he was coming forward to publicly denounce Clinton for his contemptible behavior yesterday, so I watched it. That's the Murtha I thought I knew. When he just added himself to the constant partisan drumbeat undermining our war effort, replacing Clinton on tomorrow's front page of the NYT, WaPo, and Al Jazeera, (not actually changing his position on the war)), then I knew he was just another page in the playbook of treason. Sad to see.

"Rep. John Murtha's very angry"
I watched anger like that shown by Rep. Murtha for 14 years, I watched a man who use to be resolute in his opinions and reasoning become a vacillator, unable to make a decision and often reversing a decision today with a virulent protest of denial tomorrow. I watched it until Oct 28th of 2002 when my father succumbed to one of the most hideous diseases; Alzheimer's. I see symptoms of this ravaging illness so often when I listen and look at our statesmen that I have to wonder if a mandatory retirement age wouldn't be in the nations best interest.

John Murtha was my congressman for many years before Pa. redistricting got rid of him. He was always pro military, but that doesn't make him right.Truthfully, I think he's been in office far too long. After awhile, you lose touch with reality. This ain't Vietnam! This is but one important battle in the survival for Western Civilization. There are many more to come. We better not get wobbly this soon, or we're finished!

I believe most of the DemoCraps "supported" the war because they thought it would soon turn into W's Vietnam. That would be a big plus for their party. To their dismay it has not, inspite of their efforts to make it appear so (and MSM's assistance). We were supposed to fail militarily and politically. But, we remain the military power in Iraq that is doing the job and elections have been held. W did not surrender to the military and political naysayers, and finally realizing they can not force W into withdrawal, they are now clamoring for an "exit strategy". Our exit strategy is based upon winning and that would mean years of losing elections for the DemoCraps.

Murtha, as you know, is not a Pelosi-style Chardonnay Democrat; Yes and no. Murtha is a "top adviser to Pelosi" on military affairs, says the AP.
To: churchillbuff
Savage played Murtha tonight and then urged the opposite direction: escalation. Savage said if we pull out it will be seen as another Vietnam and that the terrorists would pursue us here at home with renewed vigor once we have shown such weakness. It was a stong case. Bush and Rummy did not go unscathed. I liked how Savage referred to Bush's initial efforts in Iraq as the "Mr. Rogers" approach, and that Rummy's plan was not strong or brutal enough to ensure swift total victory.

Murtha, a conservative Dem who voted for the war...
Yep!
Once again, the democrats who are anti-war, anti-military, anti-American, have to find a military man, a Marine no less, to try to give their positions some credibility.
They tried it with John Kerry in 2004 and now with the anti-Iraq war thetoric of theirs.
The democrats can't be allowed to continue to lie and hurt the country like they are and Murtha should be ashamed of himself. And, I'm speaking as one who did go to war as a Marine, though not in Iraq.
