Harry Reid just made a motion, that was seconded, to send the Senate into closeed session.Schumer, Rockefeller and Durbin are before the press asking for a Senate Intelligence investigation into the Plame affair
I'm not suggesting debating the Democrats.
Do you realize how many people who are raising their families and working and don't pay attention to the facts like we do on FR will BELIEVE that our men and women are dying for a lie?
There is no need to get ugly or debate. Make a commercial. Hold a press conference. That's it. It's easy. And it should have been done a long time ago.
There are plans for impeachment and it's going to be ugly and it's time our Republicans actually DEFEND the administration and the mission in Iraq. Nicely. No need for ugliness.
I get frustrated when people use this argument that we don't want to get into the gutter with the Democrats. There is no need to do that and I'm not suggesting that.
Let me take back my frustration with Roberts :)
Some years ago, there was a book called "1857" (sorry, I loaned the book to someone who didn't return it, so I cannot give you the information) and it was about the nastiness that led up to the War Between The States.
Often I have recalled that when actual physical violence broke out, the whole thing went bad quickly. I have often thought that the day will come when we will hear about fistfights in the Congress, and who will be surprised? I think that day is near, someone is going to smack someone and then the game will be on. I in no way advance this, but I do think it will happen. If it does, all bets are off.
The Republicans had better quit being "Mr. Nice Guy" to these people.
Is this the one?
America in 1857: A Nation on the Brink (Paperback)
by Kenneth M. Stampp
I found it on Amazon.com. Just put that title in the Search window.
Are you serious??????????????
Unfortunately, you've nailed them. Whine and sulk. I hope everybody realizes that the Democrats have taken down the ONLY Republican in D.C. with any cajones. He may be back later, but he's certainly tied up fighting for his life. There is NO ONE in the senate that will stick up for themselves and not be pushed around let alone FIGHT for anything but their job.
That's my take, but I don't think it's what they'll continue to pull in an election year. I think this was pure "drama" for the fans, a one-act play so-to-speak, so they could appease their looney faction...because they've realized with DeWine and Graham's announcement that Alito will be confirmed.
Are you kidding me??
So now republicans are suppose to read minds?
Eeyore is on Fox.
Thank you.
did you know they were going to invoke rule 21? They suspected as such... but it hasn't been done for 20 years... its delaying regular business on the deficit spending bill for 45 mins? Give me a break
Paraphrased, but yes, that was pretty much the exchange.
HEY DOES ANYONE KNOW THE RECORD NUMBER OF POSTS? FASTLY APPROACHING 2,000!!!!
3) Prepare to launch an independent investigation when it becomes clear we have exhausted the opportunity to usefully collaborate with the majority. We can pull the trigger on an independent investigation at any time-- but we can only do so once. The best time to do so will probably be next year either:
A) After we have already released our additional views on an interim report -- thereby providing as many as three opportunities to make our case to the public: 1) additional views on the interim report; 2) announcement of our independent investigation; and 3) additional views on the final investigation; or
B) Once we identify solid leads the majority does not want to pursue. We could attract more coverage and have greater credibility in that context than one in which we simply launch an independent investigation based on principled but vague notions regarding the "use" of intelligence.

We want to appeal to calm, conservative, religous people and business people. Let the Dems get unhinged and crazy, then fight back with honest, truthful, factual and logical arguments expressed calmly and professionally. Bush, Cheney, Frist, and even Scottt McClellan do this brilliantly. Ari Fleischer was a master at it. Meanwhile let Limbaugh, Hannity, and Hewitt launch a more passionate and ferocious counter-attack on the radio. We won't beat Hillary in 2008 by acting like Hillary and the attack-dog senators who Hillary now holds on a leash. We have to market a completely different and superior brand of leadership to the American people. I think Sen. George Allen looks really good at this kind of political strategy too. He's cool as the other side of the pillow, and real tough at the same time.
put up or shut up... how is Bush telling Frist what to do
good post to mark and pick up here again later
I'm not asking for the president to respond to the Democrats.
I'm asking that our Republican senators let the American people know that this administration did not lie.
