just wait until you see him perform at the hearings.

I'm looking forward to it. So, he's every bit as impressive as Roberts? (I was very impressed with him at his hearings.)

Do you have an addy for him? I'd love to send him an email and ask my list to do the same. RINOs need to choose a side and do it RIGHT NOW! And if it's not ours, we need to know that now so they can be replaced.

I don't know what Casey's core principles are. They don't seem to keep him from staying in the Democratic Party. If he wins, then the Dem's will be one step closer to making Carl Levin the chairman of the Armed Services Committee and Patrick Leahy the chairman of the Judiciary Committee. What good does it do to punish Rick Santorum for any real or imagined failings if that is the result?

Now it's up to the Senate.

Play it that way and you'll surely watch the nominee spin in the wind, just as did Miguel Estrada.

It's up to us to get Alito confirmed. If the President's first term taught us anything, it was that he won't fight that fight by himself.

I believe that Ginsburg fought off the cancer several years ago and is cancer free now.

Would we want anyone other than a Christian, like, say, a muslim?

What about Jews? There are two Jews currently on the court.

There cannot be a religious litmus test for the SC.

Precisely. Near the end, I was very much "anti-Miers". This nominee by all indications is something to rally around the President with.

I think only a very very very small minority in FR (other than the DU trolls) were against Miers just because they hated Bush. Most of us wanted the President to do better.

This is the difference between us and the lockstep marching DU folk -- when our "guy/gal" does something we don't agree with we let it be known. Otherwise you end up with the hypocricy that was the NOW supporting Clinton during his many scandals involving women. He's a pig, but he's their pig.

I don't think conservatives operate on that idiotic level thankfully.

I can't believe the reaction on this board. I thought we wanted a consensus nominee whose views weren't well known and could get confirmed by the Senate. This is a major disappointment.

I am f-ing ecstatic!

Good Lord the idea of having a muslim on the court just makes my skin crawl and gives me the ever so slight HACK SAW TYPE GRINDING in the middle of my brain. If that ever happens, might as well just light a match to one corner of the Constitution and watch the slow burn.

Catholics dominate SC. All the Evangelicals dissed.

Speaking as a Protestant, may I respectfully suggest that Protestantism led pretty much directly to the radical Marxist, anti-Christian Ivy League universities (and imitators) of today, even though they started as Protestant strongholds. Catholic scholarship, on the other hand, continues to focus on the Christian belief system, which many social scientists are still too parochial to figure out (physical scientists are more likely to take a deep look and conclude that this universe isn't randomly ordered).

The current decline of our jurisprudence stemmed from the past SC decision that put unbelief (that humankind was/is created by a supreme intelligence beyond the capability of mere humans) on equal footing with belief in the God acknowledged by our Constitution. The two points of view are irreconcilable, since both can't be true, unless you buy the idea that God has created us but has since died.

Instead of putting the burden of proof onto those who want change in this nation, leftists demand that the language of the words of existing proofs be redefined to reflect the opposite of what they have always meant.

"You're wrong. I think 99% (or more) of those who were opposed to Bush's nomination of Harriet Miers are absolutely ecstatic about President Bush's nomination of Samuel Alito. "

The question that needs to be asked is, "why didn't Bush just nominate Alito in the first place?"

Herein lies the strategery. I still contend that nominating Miers was designed to take abortion and religion off the table at the Alito hearings. The RATS didn't complain about Miers pro-life stance so how can they complain about Alito's?

Bush wants this confirmation to be about the law, period. And now he has that fight.

Laura Ingraham calls this nomination "fantastic on every level." Another good sign.

Well, that's it, then. I couldn't POSSIBLY have made up my mind on this nomination without Ms. Ingraham's pronouncement. After all, I'm just a lowly Bushbot.

I'm having pleasant fantasies this morning about the possibility of Ginsberg resigning when Alito joins the court since she will be unable, I sincerely hope, to continue imposing her liberal agenda on this country.

Oh, please God, hear this prayer!

Well, I think that was the original idea, mostly, behind the LP, when they formed it as a direct result of Nixon imposing "wage and price controls."

The early candidates were normal kind of guys, like Ed Clark.

But, it has since become more of vehicle for the kook fringe.
