"You bet. They showed their power. Now Bush has been completely undermined for the rest of his term. Thanks guys."
Doesn't have to be. He can pull a political jujitsu and nominate someone with gravitas and unleash carve the Democrats with their own sword.

Luttig is the one I know most about and am most comfortable with. There's no judicial need for the seat to be filled by a woman.

Nominate someone to the right of J R ROWN. Doesn't matter if confirmed............So, you want to see another good person destroyed just so you get your fight?

He chose her for a reason, and we owed him the courtesy of letting her have hearings. This was a stupid bit of strutting and bloviating by the pundit class, and it has played right into the hands of the Dems.

You will be among the first to be purged from legitimate Conservative ranks unless, of course, you want to beat us to that!

So let me get this straight. Did you
like Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court? Would she have been in your Top 1000, if you had to make a list? Did you think she had performed well and voiced opinions that you could support?
Just tell me that your honest, heart-felt answer to any of the above questions is "Yes", and I will allow as to you may have a point.

That depends, if he uses his mulligan and sinks the putt, then he should regain on the conservative base...I would think.

The timing of this is priceless. The left MSM is going to have a conniption about using the Meirs nomination withdrawal to deflect attention from "Plamegate."
This is gonna be fun.

Actually, this gives Bush an opportunity to reestablish his credibility.
To: pepperhead
They'll still try. Which is why it'd be great if she was nominated.

How embarrassing for the GOP to eat one of our own...and with the RINO's in the Senate, just HOW??? are we going to execute the CONSTITUTIONAL OPTION and smack down the DemoRat Filibluster???
BOHICA--we are so totally spineless...

No flipping way. JRB can't pass the Senate for Supreme Court, and Bush won't be pushing for a ridiculous fight. He'll nominate a safer conservative.

I would nominate Megan Kendall.
Seriously, she is doing a very nice job of laying out the issues with Meirs and doing so without bias.
To: Tree of Liberty; GarySpFc
That just shows how little you comprehend the arguments against her.Or how little he comprehends conservatism... if he even tries.
To: rodguy911
A lot of freepers here "just don't get it." Miers was nominated because she could have been confirmed!!Look up the word!! Someone please tell me which true conservative can be confirmed with the rat/rinos we are infested with in the senate!!Sorry, just because something is difficult doesn't mean you give up. I hope you don't go through life with that motto.

Well, considering Spector said he wouldn't support any of the nominees who were the subject of the Gang of 14 compromise, JRB has a rather massive uphill battle.
Arlen Spector isn't the end all, be all. JRB would be worth a massive battle. I know you feel the same way probably, I'm just stating the obvious.
To: SoFloFreeper
Ms. Miers seems like a very nice woman, and nothing personal to her but YIPPEEEE!!!!!
Janice Rogers Brown or Michael Luttig...pleeasse.
