As I said, I hope you like Gonzales. Because I think that's who you're going to get. Miers never even got to state her position in hearings - she was under ill-informed, hysterical media-fanned attacks from day one. How is that a victory for conservatives?

Not if that person is an originalist, the kind of jurist President Bush promised the people he would nominate.
To: conservaDave
Gonzales is probably more likely. Be careful what you wish for.

Nothing short of Janice Rogers Brown will be acceptable to some around here.I'd give them exactly what they want and say, OK - show us how to get this nomination confirmed.

My two cents thrown in the pot for Mrs. Janice Rogers Brown. Well, considering Spector said he wouldn't support any of the nominees who were the subject of the Gang of 14 compromise, JRB has a rather massive uphill battle.

Let's see how many of these howlers stick around to actually support Bush's next choice. Few if any. The ones who were borderline mental over Miers (5-15 threads per day bashing her) were the same ones who also hated Roberts. They don't care who is nominated. All they care about is trying to attack President Bush. I'm sure their god, Coulter, is already writing her article trashing the next nominee and just has to add the name later.

This is so much better than her going through the hearing and then either not getting voted out of committee or having Repubs. vote against her.

Tend to agree with you. The only thing appropriate at this point is to PURGE Conservative ranks of the sunshine patriots. That starts with, interestingly enough, the banishment of National Review On Line and their running dog lackeys like the arch traitor "Chucky" Krauthammer.
Then we can get started on more detailed stuff.
