**An what if the A team took a pass on the first time around?**
And what if the sky was green and grass blue?
By that I mean what if that 'leak' was utter bull-sh*t, which by the way it appears it was.
JRB has apparently said she DID NOT take herself out of consideration and is ticked over the lie that was 'leaked' to that effect.

Amen. We've been trying to take it for over 25 years and we've never had a better chance than right now.

Thanks. If that's your choice, I need to learn more about her.

"Sounds like a winner of a guy...and he's only 55? Good choice."
EXACTLY.
This guy has it all. He's smart as Roberts AND a good communicator for the Constitution. He's fought the good fight in the Ninth. And doggone it, people LIKE him. The President could do no better, and a far sight worse.

>> Hope you guys are going to be happy with Gonzales. <<
I know you will be. That way you can continue to tell yourself we only opposed Miers to be a pain in the side of Bush. But can you answer me this: After the Miers fiasco, why the hell would Bush ever dream of picking the one nominee who would be more unacceptable to conservatives?

I haven't listened to Laura in 2 weeks. I haven't been able to take her being so nasty. I haven't been able to take Laura lately either. Actually, I'm back to just listening to Rush.

With all do respect that is hog wash. Roberts like Miers is an unknown. He may be a great judge I do not know. He may be a Souter I do not know. At least he had some record on how he would vote. Miers had nothing. She would have twisted in the winds of public opinion on her rulings much like O'Conner. I like the President. I voted for him. But everyone makes mistakes and Miers and spending are his. The President believes that the Republicans can buy their votes like the Dems did for 40 years. Sure you can do this but the 1994 election showed that voters do not tend to stay bought. Principle and ethics mean something. Republican ran on smaller government and conservative judges. Is it too much to ask that they keep their promise?

We heard from her through a lifetime of writing and work, what would a couple hours in front of the spineless Senators tell us? You're absolutely right, that's the way America works. She didn't deserve to be heard. Her past speaks for what she stands for now. Give me a break.
Most of my ideas have changed in the last 4 years. Are you going to say that I'm a liberal now because I was a liberal in my past? That don't work.
I don't know why some on FR pull their elitist attitude when a person like Miers is nominated. She deserved to go before the committee, and you can't put a spin on it. As an American it was her right. That you can't acknowledge that is sad.

Come on you two - time for a group hug!
(Sounds of wrestling)
Both of you - step back and put down the shivs!
OK, try the group hug thing again.....
To: Jokelahoma
Just go look at your average thread and see what happens when someone dares speak heresy. Pouting, give it a rest. This place is enforced by folks like you who will go to any lengths to make sure your side is the only one heard. Try disagreeing with one of your "friends" and see how open they are to dissension. But yeah go ahead and dismiss it as this turns into the Conservative version of DU. You don't need Bushbots anyway. After all we're "retarded".

Elections have nothing to do with it, during an election there is unity, concentration, millions of dollars in ads.
And it was still to close.
It's in the governing period that the left and their media win every battle.
They are simply to powerful, and Americans are not conservative, they want their goodies, they believe everything they see on TV.
A Republican or conservative President and reps CANNOT deal with a major act of war on our soil, run two wars, fight with the leftist CIA and State, pass conservative legislation, deal with natural disasters, fight the WOT inside the US, without a serious American press.
And our MSM are not serious, they are political operatives.
Our side needs a plan of action against them, NOW. Not just talk, but action.

"LOL I could just see Keyes going at it with the blowfish Teddy Kennedy."
Yeah, here is an example of an exchange:
Senator Fed Kennedy: Mr. Keyes, you will not be on the SCOTUS.
Keyes: Mr. Kennedy, you may be able to sink a car, but you are not going to sink my nomination. (sharp gasps of breath, rippled applause)

Your "victory dance" looks like when Elaine on Seinfeld was dancing, but you go ahead and gloat and be pompous.
(Sung to the tune of Staying Alive)
Well, you can tell by the way Meirs withdrew,
I'm righter than Dane, he's such a fool.
He loses and again I win,
He's such a geek, with the head of a pin.
And now it's all right, it's O.K.
But sadly he won't go away,
We can try to understand
What the hell is wrong with this man.
(Chorus)
Whether you're a Freeper,
Or a conservative keeper,
You're righter than Dane, righter than Dane.
Feel the forum rollin'
And Zogby keeps on pollin',
But we're righter than Dane, righter than Dane.
Ah, ha, ha, ha,
Righter than Dane, righter than Dane.
Ah, ha, ha, ha,
Righter than Dane, righter than Dane.
You are entitled to act like an ass.Doesn't change the facts. We're righter than you.

If Bush nominates a real conservative this time the Dems are really going to feel the heat from their wacko base to filibuster.
If they're going to try a filibuster, I hope the president nominates someone who will do MAXIMUM damage to them for it.
