ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET

"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.

The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.

A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.

Developing...

UPDATE

ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.

More from Drudge:

CBS’ JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice president’s chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...

LOL..what a great Dan Rather quote! And YET...two years and two weeks( give or take a few), before we go into GET SADAAM, Dan Rather was interviewing the demon and batting his eyes at him like a ballroom dancing queen looking for a dance partner!! Unbelievable!! LOL

"Good grief, if he can't figure it out in 2 years, close up shop and call it a day." I agree, their time is up.

The only possible reason for this , if it is true, is that they were NOT going to indict anybody in the administration but because of all the BS hurled out by the NYT Wash Post and MSM they have succumbed to the pressure and are frantically trying to get something to keep from being roasted alive by the left wing MSM

"How questioning of Plame's neighbors could lead to a conclusion like that is beyond me, except for the lawyers hoping for such an outcome and passing it on to a sympathetic reporter who himself believes all the hype ("so it just must be true!") and reports it."

I think something has created a problem for Fritz. This should have been done two years ago, so something's not working for Fritz. Sounds like he's wrestling.

If so, his case will be weak. This should have been done a long time ago. That's why I think something else is going on. Could it be that J. Wilson and crew have a problem?

No libby or Rove Indictments. The burden is too difficult for Fitz.

LOL...Fitz must be a piker; Ronnie Earle could have gotten indictments on everyone who testified, all members of the grand jury and "his own self" by now!

This business about interviewing the neighbors the day before supposed indictments are to be handed out is ridiculous. Something is just not right about that. Did this neighbor call Reuters and tell them this? How did they know the FBI talked to him?

It just doesn't make sense.

Either we have have a leak or a lie. Seems like it should be investigated either way.

Could it be possible that they are trying to determine where the leak is coming from? Feeding information to someone to trace it?

Well, the only hope we have of changing this whole mess is to take back our colleges from the Left Wing. In many ways,it is happening already. The left wing has become "The Establishment"...LOL..and u know how the youth is in every generation! It is poetic, but frankly too slow..we need to push the envelope a bit by getting conservatives to think about teaching and changing the dynamic!

It will be a hoot, when all of us 'fuddy duddies' are the new radicals!! Poetic Justice!! (wink)

Or did Joe tell him to call?

In the trade, doing what you suggest above is called a "drip" operation. You use a "Drip" to find your leaker.

This would eliminate Fitz from taking unilateral action.

Yeah, I'll buy that, but the media effort is designed to influence the GJ. It is in their hands.

DC is a closed echo chamber and this sort of crap usually works pretty well. The GJ sees the news, gets the views and reacts or does not react. This is the question.

However, even if the case sucks. It has done the required damage to the Admin.

There is no case that a criminal jury will buy here. None at all. I hope they have a decent GJ, but if not, we better get prepared to circle the wagons and let everything else drop.

If we don't, we cede the Dems territory that we won honestly and that fact should overcome any inside baseball over principled stands of one faction or another.

It will be big gun warfare and we need all hands on deck.

Were these neighbors put under oath? They just walk into the neighborhood and start knocking on doors? Who is this .. Federal DOJ attorneys or Barney Fife? Doesn't make sense.

Exactly....even if Libby is the only one indicted...Chrissy and gang will "by extension" consider it a Cheney indictment..

Yes, if Libby is indicted, the new game for Christmas will be "6 degrees of Scooter."

Which explains Chrissy's and the MSM smear jobs of the last 2 weeks, to influence the jury.

At least this "friendly" neighbor was willing to talk.
