ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET

"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.

The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.

A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.

Developing...

UPDATE

ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.

More from Drudge:

CBS’ JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice president’s chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...

So who are their sources?

They didn't say WHO the source was, but they did say it was faxed from a Kinkos in Texas.

the MSN can smear, spin and trash whoever they want.

Most people aren't too swift and they're lazy. So they get their view of the world from TV's big three nightly newscasts while they eat TV dinners and drink themselves numb. What local newsprint they do read is fed by NYT, AP and Reuters.

Yes, it's deplorable, but the MSM is diminishing in its ability.

Cheney is the best debater who has ever been on national TV in the presidential sweepstakes. He is absolutely devastating.

Agreed. VP Cheney has played hardball with the best of them - thinks on his feet very well. Woe to the libs if they ever managed to impeach Pres Bush. That won't happen except in their dreams.

Read Andy McCarthy's defense of Fitz and his work on the blind sheik case over at NRO.
I don't have Fitz pegged as a partisian. If he had wanted publicity he could have handed down indictments before last year's election.
I think Fitz is playing it straight and I don't see any indictments coming.

Well, here is what my attitude is: if Rove or Libby are indicted, I am taking it with the same attitude as Tom Delay's indictment:pbbbbth!

I will not allow this to do anything to my attitude but make me MORE determined to support the President and fight the democrats. I am not going to be one bit apologetic.

The press has made me as angry as I have ever been, starting with Katrina, and throughout this whole last month. I am ready to go to war with them and the Rats, and I am not backing down.

Top of the 2nd, Astros 1, Black Sox 0. Biggio scores on a hit by Berkman. Both have been indicted, and were a double-source for ABC.

This is all part of their efforts to get away with as much as possible with the stepped up, renewed efforts to win the election by destroying Senator Kerry at least partly through distortions.

I remember that. It was one of the more ridiculous bits of info to come out during that time. Kerry destroyed himself with a little bit of rope given to him. :o)

I got it from Fox Radio news about 2:30 pm today (Tues, 10/25). I think it came from an interview with Fox's resident Judge: Napolitano.
