TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Police used tear gas to break up a rock-throwing crowd that had gathered to protest a planned march Saturday by the National Socialist Movement.

At least two dozen members of a Roanoke, Va.-based group that calls itself "America's Nazi Party" had gathered at Wilson Park just before noon and were to march under police protection.

Good job! That has been the law for a long time. Those that deliberately provoke or antagonize someone to lose their temper, can complain to no avail when they get their face punched.

So the city issued a permit to have a gang turf war in the streets of Toledo? I didn't thinks so.... Your link does nothing to change my opinions. This was group was given a permit and they did not have an opportunity to carry out their protest. Guessing and insinuating what they were there to do is not your job or your right. Heck- I didn't think Cindy Sheehan should have been allowed to protest- so should I get to say she should be run off by a mob of raving lunatics who burn down people's homes and businesses? Hmmm.. I guess not because I am not an "African American".

Well you might want to be concerned with what you post on FR then because that site I posted (and saw said thread killed by a Moderator) specifically targets FR as a hate site.

You may very well participate in a protest (border security, terrorist beheadings, against Hammas) and be identified as a "fascist" too.

They seem to be linked to the socialist moonbats who made up the counter protest.

On one subpage they even target individual Freepers giving photos and their user name (from protests they attended).

At what point does radicalism become a threat to those engaging in their right to protest?

I am perfectly willing to denounce nazis and those who pin that label on themselves. I am not willing to let the opposition to the nazis mask their own political hate, especially when they lump this site in with the nazis.

I don't think that silencing everyone is the only preventive method. There are manners, civility, a standard. And then, there's always love.

Now, if everyone were followers of the Prince of Peace, your solution would work. That is not the case in this world.

But when you start legislating what is ok speech and what is hate speech, soon ALL speech will be classed hate speech because of the premise you responded to... (infinite possibilities for offending...)

I completely disagree. Hate speech laws are horrible. Who decides what is "hate speech"? You? Me? Some liberal judge? In Canada, where they have more experience with these things they have found simply reading the Biblical passages that enjoin against sodomy is "hate speech". That's right! See here, I'm confused. The Nazi's want to march to protest the black gang violence in a mostly white neighborhood. OK, I got that (even though I find Nazi's abhorrent) so the black gangs go on a rampage, destroying, looting....doing things they do best.......the Nazi's NEVER get their march started and are escorted away because of the black gangs' violence. Uh, I guess my question is, doesn't anyone think that seeing the very thing that the march was intended to reveal just about seals it? Am I wrong here?

No, politically correct haters are lauded. Malcolm X gets on a postage stamp. The PC left who would love to curtail freedom of speech would and do find excuses to protect and defend the speech of those who "hate whitey."

If we were to institute anti-hate speech laws here we might well see our libraries cleaned out of a good portion of their contents.

I've read posts where it was urged that Christians, Conservatives and Republicans be murdered. I still post. I'm careful of shirts with meanings if I'm alone and bumper stickers on the cars. Unfortunately, I think we need to be watchful.

one thing I forgot to mention earlier... as proud I am that FNC was the only network even covering it live for at least 2 or 3 hours... I got more and more irritated every time they referred to these thugs as "protesters"... Just curious what they were protesting? I mean the little group of 14 Nazis never marched... All I saw was hundreds of young blacks terrorizing a neighborhood, looting businesses, tearing down fences, burning down buildings, etc. What were these "protesters" protesting? A peaceful neighborhood?

I am no fan of that Nazi bunch, but, they had a permit to march, they were abiding by the law. If they did not abide by the law it is up to the police to rectify the situation.

The looters and vandals broke the law. They should have all been rounded up and thrown in jail, made to pay fines and make restitution. There is NO excuse for what those people did.
