As usual Miss Marple you cut through all the spin and make sense.

I think that GWB wants to hopefully avoid another Bolton Committee Hearing but somehow I feel this may not sail through easily as first thought. Hopefully I am wrong.

Ray Kelly on now ... NYPD has a counterterrorism unit that rivals many nations' units. Interrogation and investigation still ongoing.

If you are looking for parity or a fair shot from the rats, don't bother looking. They are truly a one way street.
They want everything flowing their way.

but Souter was not GHWB's first choice. Don't recall the name of who he wanted right now (but IIRC it was a conservative).

Was it Bork?

Apparently, the only reason for discussing the recent threat to NY is to play of some disagreement between NY and the feds.

Whom would you trust with your family's life on the line - Michael Chertoff or Ray Kelly? For me - it's Ray Kelly - unequivocally.

(Washington, DC) – The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), specializing in constitutional law said today that Harriet Miers, the nominee named by President Bush for a seat on the Supreme Court of the United States, is an excellent choice who represents the conservative mainstream of judicial philosophy of interpreting the Constitution, not re-writing it.

“Once again, President Bush showed exceptional judgment in naming Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court to replace Justice O’Connor,” said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ, who argues regularly before the high court and has a pro-life protest case at the high court this term. “At a time when the high court is facing some of the most critical issues of the day – including a number of cases dealing directly with abortion and life issues – the person who replaces Justice O’Connor is critical. Harriet Miers is an excellent choice with an extraordinary record of service in the legal community and is certain to approach her work on the high court with a firm commitment to follow the Constitution and the rule of law. I have been privileged to work with her in her capacity as White House counsel. She is bright, thoughtful, and a consummate professional and I enthusiastically endorse her nomination.”

You have to be kidding!

You don't get our President after all of the fantastic and hard years he has had your back? WHAT?

Do you believe for one second that our President would betray his nation by putting a liberal, activist judge on our Supreme Court?

These court assignments are the most important thing to our President after our national security (from Mary Matilin ), but we don't need Mary to tell us this...we know our President.

To lose trust in him now, when he has had to battle an enemy WITHIN this nation as well as a TERRORIST enemy outside our nation....geeeeeeeez.

Our President knows what our highest court needs...to his very bone marrow.

Mier's may end up the BEST political move our President has made.

Besides....since WHEN had President Bush taken polls or cared two hoots and a hollar what those jerks on the far right or far left have to say, anyway?

Our President loves this nation FAR MORE than he craves popularity of the moment (giving us an all out brawl in the judicial hearings, for example) or whatever the latest poll is saying. He has a wisdom and faith and vision that rises FAR above party lines;

I have no doubt of that...none.

But were you to ask me if bill klinton, or hillary klinton or ted kennedy or john kerry loved this nation ( more than their own political viability, that is) I would say NO with confidence.

Chris Wallace is "stuck on stupid" in his interview of Kelly.

Not one of his finest moments, for sure. Now I get to watch Bill Kristol pout over Miers.

As Rush says, liberalism is the religion of the dems and abortion is their sacrament.

This strikes me as odd. I have a friend who's been active in the Dem party for years. (well, she's not speaking to me since Kerry lost but anyway).

She's really an old fashioned person, highly moral in her personal life, yet she defends the immoral positions of the dems. Chances are since she is past middle age and single that she will never need an abortion and They ALL claim they personally wouldn't have one, so what's the deal?

I mean, really. Birth control was supposed to free women from the Oppression of Pregnancy. And it did. Except that apparently that's too much trouble and it's easier to get an abortion. It's definitely lowered the moral fiber of the country.

Excellent post here.
It's one thing to give an opinion it's still another to engage in all to unnecessary in-fighting on fr. We need to come together more if we want to keep the rats out of power.

The Pat Buchanan thing is a mystery to me too.

Liberals can't stand him. Conservatives can't stand him.

Does he have any following? Except maybe his sister.
