I have no comfort that he's known her for years. GWB has been married to Laura for years and she's pro-choice.

Aprox. 1/4th of all people appointed to the Supreme Court have not had judicial experience, some were lawyers a few were not.
I'd rather see new blood and new attitudes on the Court. Look, the President took an outsider and made him the leader of the pack. That is a good move, just give the President what he deserves, respect for leadership. He is doing very well.

She would have been confirmed! I think Bush could have got anyone through except for the filibusted 10.
This left us with hundreds of good choices including, Luttig, Alito, Williams, Corrigan, Jones, Garza, Boggs, Cantero, etc.
Instead we get a blank slate even blanker than Souter.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson just said on FNF that she clerked for Sarah Hughes on Federal Court. What do we know about Sarah Hughes? Actually, let me add some context based on quick research. Hughes ran for elected office as a Democrat several times throughout the 30's, 40's and 50's, and was eventually nominated to the Federal bench by JFK in 1961.

You liked having Saddam Hussein in power? What's wrong with you?
This is not about having saddam hussein in power this is about judges. JUDGES. AND when President Bush chooses person WHO Harry Reid and other pro abortion lunatics admire then YOU BET THE HELL I AM PISSED. Why not Luttig, Jones, Brown, Alito????
Why NOT????

This might be the bait chicken that we would tie up in the middle of the yard at night so we could get the fox who was raiding the hen house every night. Some times the bait chicken would die, but the fox always died.

No, I don't think she would have, frankly. Confirmation for the lower court is not the same thing as SCOTUS. She has a track record of speaking her mind in a way that would have shaken loose at least five RINOs who disagree with her views.

Meanwhile, the beloved Democrats continue to lean directly left, into the socialist wind, and if allowed, will lead us into communism in the near future. With the Republicans racing them there with record spending on every social program they can think of.

I have yet to meet ANY woman lawyer who fits in the Scalia/Thomas mold.
This is ESPECIALLY true of a woman lawyer who is politically cut throat enough to be VOTED BY OTHER LAWYERS to be the head of a state's mandatory bar.

I'd bet my bottom dollar that a lot of these so-called conservatives with their over the top emotional outbursts are regulars on DU.....

So was Ronald Reagan. So now if a nominee ever clerked for a Democrat, even at a time and place where almost all Texas public officials were Democrats, they are automatically suspect? Totally clueless and ridiculous. There was Congressman Ralph Hall, who converted to Republican after he was 80 yrs. old. He had the most conservative voting record in the House.

Not happy, and really wanted to see Janice Rodgers Brown to really slug it out with the Dems on many issues. As for this thread, however-- I could experience less hysteria and drama at a Celine Dion/Donald Sutherland concert in Vegas.

Who knows? Maybe she will be one of the more Conservative members of the court while Roberts ends up being a judge in the mold of O'Conner. Only time will tell.
