The stakes will be higher with the next nomination, in their minds, with a Supreme Court "swing" vote in the balance. The way I see it, the current court is balanced between 4 leftist ideologues and 4 Justices.

(When Frist exercises his belated Constitutional "Byrd option", Reid will have a "Nuclear Reaction".)

That's the way I see it, too. Unfortunately, we have a group of linguini-spined nominally "Republican" Senators who not only fear the appointment of an outspoken Conservative, but, as we saw today, they will let moral midgets like Harry Reid stand up in front of them and accuse Conservatives of being opposed to human rights. If I had been in that chamber, I would have challenged the SOB to a duel. Pistols at dawn. But that's just me, and that's why I'm not a Senator - I still have my own balls.

Harry Reid is a moron...sorry, he's LEADER of the morons.

Just heard on ABC radio news: Harry Reid will soon announce that he will vote against Roberts' confirmation for SCOTUS. Bush's fault

I agree with everything you said but I think you're missing the strategery here. Roberts is in. It may be tight but he's in. Then President Bush nominates another equally unimpeachable Janice Rogers Brown. Black. Female. Daughter of sharecroppers. Chief Justice of the CA Sup. Ct. for 9 years - oh and conservative. So what?
Demonize her? The dims would alienate 90% of America. Two in - maybe a couple more ... we'll see. Any bets? ;-)

Then President Bush nominates another equally unimpeachable Janice Rogers Brown. I would love that - and I hope he has the stones to attempt it. But: do you recall what they did to Clarence Thomas? Ms. Brown will have to endure worse - far worse. And the Media (MSM, that is) will be along for the ride, ignoring her heritage - in fact - using it against her wherever possible. It will be nasty with a capital "N" because to the Cognoscenti it's all about one thing and one thing only. It is about one decision and one decision only - and we all know what that is. The "right" to their precious abortions - the sacrament of Liberalism.

While I can't say I agree with Reid's politics, I must admit the man knows how to captivate an audience. I caught a part of his address to the clerk of the senate -- nobody else seemed to be in attendance --, and the man's delivery is simply riveting.
Seriously, I think, when personalities were being handed out, Harry mistakenly got into the "Miasma" line instead of the one labeled "Charisma".

but she has a "fiery temperament," and they're afraid she'd just haul off and let Biden, Shumer, Kennedy et al. have what they so richly deserve! She had a trial run, just like Roberts a couple of years ago for the Appeals Court seat she has now. She was all smiles. LOL.

The dems could then have ranted and raved about how "far right" the next nominee is... Which shows average voters that "far right" is fairly normal.

Max Baucus of Montana has announced he will vote for Roberts, so that's at least one Democrat.
This has all gone too easily, and Dem resistance is token. It would seem that Roberts has probably given private assurances to the Democrats that he will not vote to overturn Roe v Wade. (Since that's pretty much all they care about.)
To: Lunkhead_01
I'd love to hear his reasons. While in the Reagan administration, Roberts made a reference to his "legal amigos". In writing!!!
This display of crass insensitivity alerted Dingy Harry to the dark forces that lurk within Roberts' heart...
