CCRKBA CALLS FOR FEDERAL INVESTIGATION, ACCOUNTING ON NEW ORLEANS GUN SEIZURES
Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms ^ | September 12, 2005 | CCRKBA

Posted on 09/12/2005 2:47:09 PM PDT by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

BELLEVUE, WA – Following low-key inquiries that were met with stony silence and official indifference, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) today is calling for a federal investigation into reports of gun seizures from law-abiding New Orleans residents, and is demanding that officials there immediately account for all confiscated firearms.

CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb is also demanding that New Orleans police officials immediately stop the seizures, disclose where those firearms are being kept, how they are secured, the type and number of firearms involved, and how those guns will be promptly returned to their rightful owners, in the condition in which they were originally taken.

"I also want to know under just what authority New Orleans officials are confiscating lawfully-owned firearms from law-abiding citizens," Gottlieb said. "Where does it say that the state and federal Constitution can be nullified, even briefly, simply because of a hurricane? In every other natural disaster this country has ever faced, people retain their civil rights, including the right of self-defense, but New Orleans and Louisiana state officials have added the sin of arrogance to incompetence and negligence for which they must be held accountable when this is over."

Gun rights activists have been outraged by a film clip showing a police officer tackling an elderly woman who was armed, in her own home, and later removing her from the premises.

"We know this is only one incident that is being replayed incessantly, and that not all the circumstances are known," said CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron, "but this incident, combined with statements by local officials, particularly Police Superintendent P. Edwin Compass III, that nobody but police will be allowed to have guns, demands a full and complete explanation to the American public. Visiting police and National Guardsmen are in New Orleans to help hurricane victims, and the nation is grateful beyond words. You don't help people by violating their civil rights or the public trust."

"There are reports that residents who refuse to leave are being disarmed, anyway," Gottlieb added, "leaving them to the mercy of any lingering looters and thugs. If true, it is unconscionable. In the anarchy that reigned in the city for days, these armed citizens provided the only protection for their families, businesses and neighborhoods when many police walked off their jobs, and a few even participated in the looting, and the world knows it. The people responsible for making that decision should be immediately disciplined and relieved of command. Visiting officers from other jurisdictions involved in these confiscations should be immediately sent home.

"New Orleans is still part of the United States, not a police state," Gottlieb concluded.

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation's premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email to InformationRequest@ccrkba.org.

Once all the guns are confiscated and most of the residents are removed, the police will be able to loot what's left without fear of anyone shooting at them. This is New Orleans, remember.

I expect this will happen with increasing frequency in the future. And I don't like it.

Personally I suspect our increasingly open borders and globalism will drive greater gun control. Open borders require laws that mesh.

Dimquest found this:

La. Stat., title 14, § 329.6. It provides:

Section F.

Notwithstanding the provisions of this Section, except in an imminent life threatening situation nothing herein shall restrict any uniformed employee of a licensed private security company, acting within the scope of employment, from entering and remaining in an area where an emergency has been declared.

The provisions of this Subsection shall apply if the licensed private security company submits a list of employees and their assignment to be allowed into the area, to the Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners, which shall forward the list to the chief law enforcement office of the parish and, if different, the agency in charge of the scene.

Is there such a thing as a civil rights suit under § 1983 for attorney's fees against the government when they take away our second amendment rights? I would see a class action there is enough people actually were forced to cough them up.

The first gun control laws were proposed and enacted by Democrats to prevent Blacks (Negro's at that time) from obtaining weapons.

The Blacks (Seesh, should I call them Negro's? This constant changing of the names by the RATS is confusing), anyway the Negro's were using them to protect themselves and their families against the KKK (read future Democrat Senators).

The fact that they would again focus on minorities ability to defend themselves against criminals surprises no one at FR, I'm sure. That's what elitists do.

I'm glad someone is calling for an investigation.

The proper etiquette for those who would like to have you give up your guns is to ALWAYS let them have the bullets first.

from the JBS back in 1994... who was Pres. in 1994???

on a July 25, 1994 headline from *The Spotlight*:
"GIs Asked: Would You Shoot Americans?"

This footnote has generated a certain amount of interest, in
itself. Readers have asked requesting more information.

Forwarded message

Subject: Actual 29 Palms Questionnaire

Friends,

We have had an enormous number of requests for information on the
29 Palms questionnaire. One of our number just faxed me the
actual questionnaire, and a letter that came with it from the
young Marine who purloined it. The article referred to in his
letter is not included in my report. Here are his words:

5-15-94
My name is --- and I am currently serving in the U.S. Marine
Corps. I am not a JBS member but I have read several books put
out by them and I read back issues of The New American. Enclosed
is a survey given to myself and other Marines from different
units on base that had participated in either Operations "Just
Cause", "Desert Storm", or "Restore Hope". A Navy Commander came
before us and said he was working on his Masters degree and he
was writing a paper about giving up our military's soverenty
(sic) to the United Nations Secretary General.

Needless to say, I was shocked. I marked all of the questions
"Strongly disagree", and turned in the survey. The Marine next
to me just happened to accidently (sic) grab two surveys as they
were being passed out. He agreed to give it to me. This is no
Fabrication. This survey was given to us on May 10th at Twenty-
Nine Palms Marine Corps base in California. Also enclosed is an
article from the base weekly newspaper from March of this year.
I hope the survey can be of some use to you. Please feel free to
contact me if you wish.

Sincerly, (sic)
(Name deleted)

Combat Arms Survey

This questionnaire is to gather data concerning the attitudes of
combat trained personnel with regards (sic) to nontraditional
missions. All of your responses are confidential. Write your
answers directly on the questionnaire form. In Part II, place an
"X" in the space provided for your response.

Part I. Demographics
1. What service are you in?
2 What is your pay grade?
3. What is your MOS code and description?
4. What is your highest level of education in years?
5. How many months did you serve in Operation Desert Storm/Desert
Shield?
6. How many months did you serve in Somalia?
7. What state or country did you primarily reside in during childhood?

Part II. Attitudes

(Each of these questions was followed by five answers. The
respondent was asked to check one of the following: Strongly
disagree, Disagree, Agree, Strongly agree, No opinion)

Do you feel that U.S. combat troops should be used within the
United States for any of the following missions?

8. Drug enforcement
9. Disaster relief (e.g. hurricanes, floods, fires, earthquakes)
10. Security at national events (e.g. Olympic Games, Super Bowl)
11. Environmental disaster clean-up
12. Substitute teachers in public schools
13. Community assistance programs (e.g. landscaping,
environmental clean-up, road repair, animal control)
14. Federal and state prison guards
15. National Emergency police force
16. Advisors to S.W.A.T. units, the FBI, or the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (B.A.T.F.)
17. Border Patrol (e.g. prevention of illegal aliens into U.S.
territory.)

Do you feel that U. S. combat troops under U.S. command should be
used in other countries for any of the following United Nations
missions?

18. Drug enforcement
19. Disaster relief
20. Environmental disaster clean-up
21. Peace keeping
22. Nation building (Reconstruct civil government, develop public
school system, develop or improve public transportation system,
etc.)
23. humanitarian relief (e.g. food and medical supplies,
temporary housing, and clothing)

Do you feel that U. S. combat troops should be used in other
countries, under command of non-U.S. officers appointed by the
United Nations for any of the following missions?

24. Drug enforcement
25. Disaster relief
26. Environmental disaster clean-up
27. Peace keeping
28. Nation building
29. Humanitarian relief
30. Police Action (e.g. Korea, Vietnam, but serving under non-
U.S. officers)

Consider the following statements:

31. The U.S. runs a field training exercise. U.N. combat troops
should be allowed to serve in U.S. combat units during these
exercises under U.S. command and control.

32. The United Nations runs a field training exercise. U.S.
combat troops under U.S. command and control should serve in U.N.
combat units during these exercises.

33. The United Nations runs a field training exercise. U.S.
combat troops should serve under U. N. Command and control during
these exercises.

34. U.S. combat troops should participate in U.N. missions as
long as the U.S. has full command and control.

35. U.S. combat troops should participate in U.N. missions under
United Nations command and control.

36. U.S. combat troops should be commanded by U.N. officers and
non-commissioned officers (NCOs) at battalion and company levels
while performing U.N. missions

37. It would make no difference to me to have U.N. soldiers as
members of my team (e.g. fire team, squad, platoon)

38. It would make no difference to me to take orders from a U.N.
company commander.

39. I feel the President of the United States has the authority
to pass his responsibilities as Commander-in-Chief to the U.N.
Secretary General.

40. I feel there is no conflict between my oath of office and
serving as a U.N. soldier.

41. I feel my unit's combat effectiveness would not be affected
by performing humanitarian missions for the United Nations.

42. I feel a designated unit of U.S. combat soldiers should be
permanently assigned to the command and control of the United
Nations.

43. I would be willing to volunteer for assignment to a U.S.
combat unit under a U.N. commander.

44. I would like U.N. member countries, including the U.S., to
give the U. N. all the soldiers necessary to maintain world peace.

45. I would swear to the following code:
"I am a United Nations fighting person. I serve in the forces
which maintain world peace and every nation's way of life. I am
prepared to give my life in their defense."

46. The U.S. government declares a ban on the possession, sale,
transportation, and transfer of all non-sporting firearms. A
thirty (30) day amnesty period is permitted for these firearms to
be turned over to the local authorities. At the end of this
period, a number of citizen groups refuse to turn over their
firearms. Consider the following statement:

I would fire upon U.S. citizens who refuse or resist confiscation
of firearms banned by the U.S. Government.

That's the famous questionnaire. Come to your own conclusions.

Until that demand is made in Court, nothing will come of it. And maybe nothing will come of it even if the demand is made in Court.

I grew up shooting .22 rifles in the NRA. I was a sharpshooter at 12 years old, but haven't owned a gun since I left my father's home. After watching the anarchy in New Orleans, I plan to purchase a rifle along with an appropriate amount of ammunition so as to be able to protect myself and my property in case a similar situation arises where I live.

Any recommendations on what weapon I should purchase and where I could purchase it?

Here's one link to the video...
Scroll down the page for the section titled;
CHP Takes Part In Door-To-Door Searches

I've seen others versions of the clip though, and I too thought I remembered it being on FOX. I'll see if I can't find some of the other links. In this one you can hear her swearing at them after they tackled her. They say she had a knife as well as the gun, but I didn't see a knife. Also she wasn't holding her gun in a threatening manner. She did state - "you'll have to shoot me".

If anyone can show me in the constitution where a hurricane or a flood gives the government the authority to wholesale confiscate the firearms of otherwise law abiding citizens, I'd like to see it.

It's in the Penumbra, as revised by FEMA.

I think it has something to do with "The Right to Privacy."

I'm finally starting to see the agenda behind morphing The Constitution into a "Living Document".

When it's a "Living" Document... they can kill it. And from the stuff I'm seeing on the news, I'd say they're laying the axe to the root even as we speak.

I can't even begin to wonder about the stuff we DON'T see on the news.

Nah, his buds don't like those guns. They prefer the ones with the sights mounted on the right side of the slide so they can hold the pistol in their familiar horizontal grip style.

Is the "Birdman" website back online again?
