They shoot dogs, don't they?

Some of us volunteer and trap local feral cats and have them spayed/neutered on their own dime.
Some of us find and place lost dogs in our local areas.
Some of us work with local rescue groups/SPCA and help
train/socialize animals so they can be placed.
Some of us are willing to do what it takes to adopt animals from NOLA, even though we live very far away.
I understand your comments and respect what you have written, but some of us are putting our money where our mouth is.
LOL... must not be anyone left to disarm.
"There probably aren't any 60 y/o women to tackle and drag out of their houses. All that macho energy has to go somewhere!"
Wonder if that fat hog sheriff who slammed that poor lady into a wall is the one shooting dogs?
And some people are only using their mouth's and nothing else. That was my point. I am not one of those people and apparently neither are you. That is good to read. Maybe if more people did do something instead of just talking about these kinds of situations could go better in the future.
It has not been a good day for us. We are tired and irritable.
My husband is a veterinarian and has been in very close contact with LSU vets. We have many friends there. These vets are also very upset.
We are doing what we can and are distressed by what has happened re animal rescue in NOLA.
Just speechless.
The LA state and local governments will have hell to pay in court. They already had much to answer for - now they're going to have a lot more.
May your family and friends be able to get some rest.
I just dropped off a bunch of polaroid film to my shelter here in Ft. Lauderdale. They said they had run out from taking the animals pictures for identification. I would like to go and help but have been told since I am not certified I can't. I don't think that should matter. I can help water and feed and any other grunt work that needs to be done. If you know of any groups I can contact, please let me know.
" My husband is a veterinarian and has been in very close contact with LSU vets "
Last night MSNBC reported that there were dogs left behind and abandoned to this day, in the Superdome.
Noah's Wish had a link to the vets at LSU who are helping to rescue the abandoned dogs.
I called a friend who is a vet and has friends at LSU and they called and left a message about the abandoned dogs.
We have not gotten any feedback as to whether anyone, besides MSNBC is aware of that situation.
So when you get the chance, could you ask your friends at LSU if they are aware of the reports of dogs abandoned in the Superdome ?
This am, we did the only thing we could, living so far away-we donated again to those in the field doing the heavy lifting.

A lot of no kill shelters nationwide are willing to take Katrina pets and give them to foster homes, so the " they'll be killed anyway in a shelter " argument is false.
I am so angry right now its hard to think straight.
So this is the reason that one golden retriever was shot 6 times?
cretins.
Sgt. Minke Minton, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's office is hunting and shooting them and says that's more "humane".
Minton needs to be fired.
I just watched the video linked at the top.
It is un freaking believable.
National Guard troops are trying to help the dogs-which are not pit bulls, but, labs, poodles ,beagles, mixed breeds and pups-all running after them and wagging their tails.
The National Guard guys gasp when they hear the gunshots.
The reporter interviews Sgt. Minke Minton,of the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's office who laughs about shooting the dogs, says it's no big deal and claims " they were trying to eat him."
Sgt Minke Minton of the St Bernard's Parish Sheriff's dept ( in his wife beater t shirt ) is the biggest POS we have seen yet in this debacle.
The dogs were on sidewalks in front of homes, wagging their tails.
Not isolated in areas that no one could reach.
Sgt Minke Minton should be arrested for animal cruelty.
The dogs are not too far gone according to this article

Sickness! There is a terrible sickness in NO. The shooting of dogs is just a manifestation of it. We have watched the Constitution get shredded and people don't seem to care. LEOs are out of control and no one is even making a peep about it.
LOL!

He is in the running but no where near the biggest. Have you watched the 60 y/o woman get tackled by the 200 pound cop?
You gotta wonder what they do with the carcasses- pitch 'em in the 'soup' I would suppose.
"Have you watched the 60 y/o woman get tackled by the 200 pound cop?"
"Gramma-Ball"?
It is spot on and if you know the framework enunciated in the Constitution it is obvious they don't know anything about it. Furthermore they cannot see the danger of a government that ignores it. That is the most baffling part. When these same excesses are meted out by someone like Hillary they will squeal like stuck pigs.
It's the fumes coming off of the chemical polluted flood waters.
I signed on IN 2000, so does that make me post 2000 or pre 2000?
I lurked for a couple of years before that,
