This statement doesnt surpise me at all..
Good. If anyone needs an a**-kicking, it's the state and local officials - they have the first responsibility, not the feds.
Really? Fox News has been reporting it since Saturday. She must be an even bigger boob than she appears to be on TV.
This woman should be impeached. And...NOLA should stop printing lies. The entire country knew from Friday on that GW Bush was going back to the south east on Monday. If Governor Blanco did not know that the President was coming back to Louisiana on Monday, she was either asleep at the wheel or sniffing glue!!!
It's still about color to the lamestream media.
Frankly, if the Governor's biggest priority at this point in time is not being told about the President's visit, then her priorities are up her ass. So a meeting and photo-op with Bush supercedes what needs to be done across the state to alleviate the effects of Katrina. This woman needs to go home and stay there.
The more the Pres. can keep Blanco out of the loop, the better it will be for us down here. Hurricane Katrina was the worst thing to ever happen to Louisiana... Blanco is the second worst.
What in the world is she going to Houston for? The crisis is in her state, and she going where the people are safe and being taken care of. SHE IS COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT.
Come and punch me, Landrieu you equally incompetant moran.
hmmmm. I think I recall hearing that President Bush would be visiting LA and MS about mid-day on Sunday. Doesn't anyone on the Governor's staff monitor the news outlets? I wonder if this story is just more RAT spin?
Working as I do from home, I have watched TV for a week solid.
NOT ONCE did I see Blanco or Nagin addressing the country or the people of Louisiana.
Buck up Blanco, they're not all out to 'GET YOU!'
This is a disaster and plans aren't cast in granit, able to be conveyed early on.
One aspect of Pres. Bush I'm beginning to admire, is that the mentality seems to be, if George shows up unannounced, you're in BIG, BIG, BIG trouble. I imagine many people have left closed door meetings with him shaken and white-faced.
Unlike Clinton, who'd just talk at you and smile for the cameras (while his toadies stabbed you in the back), Pres. Bush commands respect still, even with the constant harping - him coming back, making statements like "This is unacceptable" made me think of when i was a kid, and my mom would threaten us with "Just wait until your FATHER gets home!" Even in the midia, there seemed to be a palpable sense of "finally an adult is in charge" when Pres. Bush stepped in and took matters into his hands.
I'm not trying to belittle the situation, but more and more it seems our President is another "Talk softly, but carry a BIG stick" kind of guy, which I really respect. I hate namby pamby wishy washy EMOTIONAL creeps like clinton, who'd cry with you while feeling your wife up. His wife scares the living sh*t out of me in situations like this, I don't even want to speculate how her and her toadies would react.
I wonder how many people would have lived if the idiots running NO and LA had let him help early on, or how many MORE if Hill and/or Bill were in office.
**shudder**
I was just watching Blanco standing next to President Bush while he was addressing the emergency responders. He's talking and she's shaking her head...doing a Hillary Clinton. I guess she likes to hear the mothballs in her head rattle.
Oh FGS we here at Free Republic knew he was going there on Saturday...WHEN IT WAS ANNOUNCED ON NATIONAL TV.
Sorry for hollering...it's all catching up I guess.
This is about as ridiculous as FEMA Director Brown's statement that he didn't know people were at the Convention Center.
LOL, it been the NEWS since Saturday - doesn't she watch TV?
OTOH: Maybe Bush didn't care if she showed or not.
thats what happens when you REFUSE to let another captain on board.
They are throwing everything they can at Bush right now, but it is not going to stick.
Before too long, it will come out that Bush offered Blanco significant federal resources before this thing became a nightmare, and she told him she needed 24 hours to think about it.
While she was hiring an outside consultant to make her decisions for her, the situation in New Orleans went to nine kinds of hell.
Nagin missed his only real chance to do something by not evacuating more people before the hurricane hit -- that was a major failure, but he has been doing pretty well since then. After the hurricane hit, all of his infrastructure was gone: all communications, all utilities, most of the other city officials, and one-third of the police force.
As soon as Blanco realized it was time for the children to go to bed and the adults to take over, Bush sent in Honore and the National Guard and straightened everything out.
That's the story. They'll try to spin it, but at the end of the day, the facts are what the facts are.
Maybe Fema could shake loose a couple of bucks more and put Blanko up in a los Vegas hotel with her infamous police force. I wonder if Fema will pay for the escort services.
