One aspect of Pres. Bush I'm beginning to admire, is that the mentality seems to be, if George shows up unannounced, you're in BIG, BIG, BIG trouble. I imagine many people have left closed door meetings with him shaken and white-faced.

Unlike Clinton, who'd just talk at you and smile for the cameras (while his toadies stabbed you in the back), Pres. Bush commands respect still, even with the constant harping - him coming back, making statements like "This is unacceptable" made me think of when i was a kid, and my mom would threaten us with "Just wait until your FATHER gets home!" Even in the midia, there seemed to be a palpable sense of "finally an adult is in charge" when Pres. Bush stepped in and took matters into his hands.

I'm not trying to belittle the situation, but more and more it seems our President is another "Talk softly, but carry a BIG stick" kind of guy, which I really respect. I hate namby pamby wishy washy EMOTIONAL creeps like clinton, who'd cry with you while feeling your wife up. His wife scares the living sh*t out of me in situations like this, I don't even want to speculate how her and her toadies would react.

I wonder how many people would have lived if the idiots running NO and LA had let him help early on, or how many MORE if Hill and/or Bill were in office.

**shudder**

Thing is it wasn't "Unannounced." The news was out a few days ago. Blanco wasn't listening, or did not want to admit she was.

Love you, Mr. President!

His [Clinton's]wife is already firmly in control:

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/9/5/100013.shtml

In an indication that Mrs. Clinton intends to make the Katrina disaster her cause celeb, she announced plans to travel to New Orleans today - ostensibly to be on hand while her husband unveils a new effort to raise relief funds for city flood victims.

The former first lady said she plans to introduce legislation to make the Federal Emergency Management Agency an independent Cabinet-level agency - the same status FEMA had during her husband's administration before it was subsumed into the Department of Homeland Security.

As much as I hate to say it, Bill Clinton would have done a good job on this. He and his advisors would have seen this as a Rudi Guilliani type event. He would have moved in swiftly and covered himself in glory via a press that idolizes him.

President Bush has also moved swiftly but the media has tried to make all the failings of the Governor of Louisiana, and the mayor of New Orleans President Bush's fault. This is not going to stick to Bush. The Governor and the mayor are going to take a big hit. Especially when the public realizes that more than two hundred buses were available to evacuate the people from the dome after the levees broke and before the high water reached the super dome. Those buses could have carried 10000 people on each trip across the river to the West Bank which was not flooded. Those buses were 1-1/2 miles from the Super Dome. The round trip from the Super Dome to the West Bank would have been no more than one hour. We are talking about five hours to to get everyone out. Nor did the mayor use the buses to evacuate the people that had no transportation to the super dome prior to the storm. hitting. THE MAYOR OF NEW ORLEANS IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS! The governor of Louisiana could have declared martial law and ordered the use of the buses. THE GOVERNOR OF LOUISIANA IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS! Why was there not a large police presence at the Super Dome? Why were the buses not used? Why did the governor of Louisiana not take charge when the mayor failed to. Why did the governor resist the pleadings of President Bush to order the evacuation of everyone from New Orleans? Why did the governor resist the efforts to Federalize the Louisiana National Guard?
WHY IS THE MEDIA NOT ASKING THESE QUESTIONS OF THE GOVERNOR AND THE MAYOR?
