U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.

Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.

To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.

Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage, reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

Streaming Video:

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.

WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.

WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).

WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.

United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.

Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

Let me tell you, I saw what I saw at @6:00 am Wed. ( sorry it was Wed.). I couldn't believe it. Thsi aid, a young woman, was in a crouched position in front of Blank o after she had just finished an interview with a national outlet and waiting for the next. The "aid" was just absolutely coaching her and when she suggested the gov. needed more help, BlanK o said, Oh yeah, thanks for riminding me. I WAS GOING TO CALL IN THE MILITARY BUT I FORGOT.

I'm glad someone else saw the feed of Governor Blanco doing a series of national interviews from what I believe was a studio in Baton Rouge. It was supposed to be WWL TV on line news live stream, but this session was obviously mistakenly put out over the internet for a period of time that morning. Like you, I could not believe it when I heard the whispered comments to her aids. I have had my computer recorder running a lot of the time over the last week just recording WWL and scanner audio. I had a lot going on that morning, had a computer glitch, and I was not able to find those comments recorded when I looked for them that day, but I'm going to go back through my files and look again. If I find them, I'll post a transcript of the relevant parts. Surely there are recordings of this out there.

The dome's backup generator failed about the time the flood crested in New Orleans. IIRC, either the exhaust or the fuel feed failed when flooded.

Thank you.

Yup. Texas has become the national triage center - some of these people need to go elsewhere so we can take more people in and determine what they need. There are concerns that if we don't do this, we'll drop below what we consider minimum care levels for these people. Unlike Louisiana, we do *not* treat people like cattle unless we simply don't have any other choices. If we can get some other states to take people who are stabilized and not in urgent need of care, that will help.

We're *well* over the 100,000 we were initially told to expect. May the Louisianans responsible for this debacle roast in Hell for all eternity.

Rush was standing up to blast the MSM/Dems last week and stand up for the Prez even before all the facts we're known and before almost any conservative nuMedia joined in. I seriously doubt he'll disappoint with all the wealth of knowledge known now.

Mary needs to come to my home and deck me. I've been blaming them non stop. LOL

Lord, Almighty. 60,000 body bags and that might not be enough. What a horrid account from the ground.

The several dozen people that MAY have died in the Superdome or Convention Center due to lack of timely resupply of water, ice and food, for whatever reason, will pale in comparision to the thousands of people who were killed by the flooding when they could have been evacuated in advance by the local authorities. And as it becomes more well known that the locals had both the knowledge and responsibilty to take timely action, I wouldn't be surprised if some don't call for their indictment and criminal prosecution.

I would SO love to have been a fly on the wall in Barbara Bush's living room for the past week.

We would probably have needed earplugs at the very least.

Thanks, who else has lists, is the Red Cross the only one? I checked that one too, but had no luck, the grandmother is FRANTIC

NautiNurse put a list of links at the start of the thread, which include some links that would be useful in trying to locate people from various areas

As of right now, just about everybody in NOLA has been evacuated to shelters where phone service of some sort exists for them to contact relatives. If no word by late tomorrow, I would start preparing the grandmother for bad news 8-(

There was always a clear highway out of NO and the Superdome

Yes, but it took time to clear those roads of debris and import buses since they drowned their own buses. And more time to chase away the armed looters. Getting them out was difficult after the flood. Getting them out when they should have would have been much easier. Just shuttle them to the prepositioned, but mostly unused, Red Cross shelters inland; they had room for 70k people there with food, water, sanitation and electricity. There was time for at least 2 or 3 trips. Maybe they couldn't have gotten everybody out but they could have gotten out a lot, perhaps enough to fill those shelters. Stage pickups at the 5 projects and at the larger hotels and the buses would fill quickly with the merely transportation impaired natives and tourists. Those with special needs should have been in a database with separate folks tasked to get them out.

Russert just gave away the media's game on NBC live. Says the only way Bush can recover from the criticism is to show great leadership in rebuilding New Orleans.

The media invented the criticism and used it as a baseball bat to force Bush to rebuild a Lib stronghold.

You know, Jefferson Parish ought to be sufficient to run the port facilities, I'm really starting to think rebuilding a city that's still below sea level just may not be in our nation's best interests. Perhaps Tim and his friends are willing to fund such a project, but I seem to have lost my motivation.

Watch, as the evidence flood that shows Blanco and the mayor's malicious negligence gains steam, the Left will be screaming for us all to work together and to avoid politicizing a natural disaster.

Guaranteed.

My answer?

"No, you had your round, while people were still dying. Now it's OUR turn."

And his remark about Bush going back today, because he didn't think Friday was "successful" was bizarre!!!

If Dubya goes there, they say silly stuff like that, or that he is photo-op grandstanding.

If he didn't go there, they would be screaming from the rooftops that he should be there, he's not there because he hates minorities, etc etc ad infinitum.

No matter what he does, he is going to catch hell either way, so he just keeps doing the right thing, which is why I have a hell fo a lot of respect for him as President. ( and another reason the liberals hate him so much.)
