Mr. Gibson not only saved 70 or so people from drowning and despair, he saved a bus too! Maybe the city of New Orleans should officially deed this bus over to Mr. Gibson.
Wow, if the media was honest, Nagin and Blanco would be so toast. I have faith that both are finished, but the truth will take awhile to get out NATIONALLY. Locally in Louisiana, they will get what they deserve.
.....Count 'em and weep....
I counted 415 buses . Are the ones in the second photo busses?
415 x 50 = 20750
415 x 75 = 31125
Two trips/bus would have made a big difference.
Jabbar for Mayor
Give this kid a job, make sure he gets a proper education, he's a future leader.
Give Jabbar Gibson the mayor's paycheck!
in any disaster, there is always SOMEONE who steps up to the plate and shines heroically... Jabbar Gibson is that person in this catastrophe... tears come to my eyes when i look at that picture of him driving that bus with those people in it... this story has restored something in my soul...
This, ladies and gentlemen, is your first real hero of the situation.
You go, Jabbar! Woo-hoo! Drove the bus to Houston, alright!!
Finally, someone in New Orleans with leadership skills.
This kid deserves a medal!
Every time you encounter someone around here who is bagging on black people about the looting, show them this story.
My heart is so saddened to hear of the reports of how so many of the poor people lost their lives due to negligence on the part of the Mayor and Governor of the State of Louisiana. I can't understand why they didn't have a plan in action several days prior to the hurricane. I think Jabbar Gibson was a caring individual who did what he thought was right. He helped to save the lives of 70 people. He should NOT be put on trial as taking the school bus was NOT his intention to steal it but to help others evacuate. I will stand behind what this man did. I think the Mayor should be placed in a small room strapped into a chair and let the water rise to just below the tip of her nose and let her feel what it must have been like for those who tragically and needlessly lost their lives.
Wow. A kid did what the Mayor could've done for 48 hours before the hurricane, almost 24 hours before the levee break...and according to this story, could've even done on Wednesday when the city was still under water. In other words, as the Mayor was crying for Greyhound buses on Thursday, a kid was driving people to safetly with his buses the day before.
bttt
Wait just one minute. I thought they said they could not evacuate those people in New Orleans. That it was Bush's fault they were still there?
What the heck are all those buses and how is it that a 20-year-old kid could figure out how to save 70 people?
Hey, he may have the only working school bus left to the city of New Orleans! The Mayor can just send somebody to pick it up.
Of course, if the bus drivers did not turn out for the evacuation, the keys should have been turned over to volunteer civilians like Mr. Gibson.
But I guess that is too much to hope for in these days of piratical plaintiff's lawyers. The slightest booboo, and everyone on the bus would have sued for millions.
