Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

THat is it.. it is time to play hardball. She has gone wayyy to far. I notice that she continues to criticize the President tho- and what would happen if President Bush threatened to punch anyone- including the NO police officers who left their posts. Where does this blame game end? By threatening to assault the President, this poor excuse for a Senator incites her fellow citizens or non-citizens to do exactly that. This is what the Demorats have been all about for the past 5 years. Sooner or later, their vitriol, hateful rhetoric, and pure animosity toward the President will lead to some nut committing an attempted assuault on the leader of the Free World. Then we'll all see what the "Party of the People"has wrought . With the notable exception of the MSM.

Bush should take the high road and state the facts will speak for themselves...He should make it very clear that he is only interested in saving lives and not participating in a witch hunt....IMHO.....

Another thing to add in your arsenal:

1. The monies were available to LA for upgrading the levees. By Fed. Law, the STATE has to come up with 50% of the $$. LA refused that, saying they wanted the Feds to fund 100%. Funny, no other state has had that problem (to my knowledge).

2. I read an interview with Corp of Engineers (COE) spokesman who said they wanted to upgrade the levees, but were stopped by the environmentalists (Sierra Club). Can't give a source, but it was on the Open Thread. Try doing a search there, or maybe someone else knows.

No. Landrieu won her election when Jesse Jackson and a few other black "leaders" were notified on the day of the special election that she was behind, and mobilized the large Black vote in New orleans and surrounding areas to get out to the polls by any means necessary, and get her elected. As usual, the Republicans stood by and watched the fraud and illegalities happen without doing a thing about it.
