Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.
Where the heck have you been while this disaster was waiting to happen?
I swear, I am in the minority here but Nagin is a good guy. Was a business man before running. He was royallly screwed by the dem party here.
Give Nagin a chance, he is a smart guy and was exposing long time corruption in NO before this came on. He was crossing the NO machine big time.
Nagin is okay in my book. No flaming now, yall hear me?
no sweat, my emotions acted faster than my brain this morning... : )
Make that a Democrat female. Condi is doing fine.
She ain't no holla-back girl.
i bet the silly cow stamped her foot while doing it too...
You sure said a mouth-ful. I am not sure I agree with all points you made, but it should "pick-up" the responses! LOL
If the facts are on your side, argue the facts- If you lack facts just pound the desk, cuss, scream, cry and above all Just Blame Bush!
Will he do the show tomorrow or play golf, this being the Labor Day Weekend?
WTF is she talking about? As far as I know, the president hasn't uttered a single critical word about what passes as N.O. law enforcement. But he should.
Sounds like deflection to me. Anybody who knows what's gone on in NOLA realizes that the local government dropped the ball. It was amateur hour.
How about criticizing the NOPD for TAKING PART IN LOOTING?!?!?!
Tell them its not the fed's responsibility to fund levees for people who choose to live below sea level. Level 5 levees would cost 250 million I understand. New Orleans could have afforded that (over say five years), and the people of NO are the only people who should have been approached to pay it. Instead of which the dems have been waiting with their hands out FOR DECADES until the water literally rises around their ears.
Perfect! Thanks. Gotta stay fully armed when dealing with libs.
Bush didn't even reduce funding, he reduced the amount of the increase in funding. It's the oldest trick in the book, call a lower increase in funding, a cut.
That could be why the levy failed... (Firmly pulling tin-foil hat tighter)
Mary Landrieu
another Weapon of Muddled Distortion found, and in the Senate of all places.. Im shocked
she must be very distraught as she lost many many votes due to Katrina.. not constituents, voters,, altho dead people can vote too Mary, look at Washiongton, Wisconsin and Illinois to see how its done.
or check your democRATic playbook, it's in there as well.
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
