OMG .. did you just hear JJ compare this to 9/11

And how on 9/11, the President stood on a mound of rubble and said The people responsible for this will hear from us

And that President Bush when he visits NO today .. he should stand on a pile of rubble, look up in the sky and tell God that he will hear from us

Rush - The Weapon

We've got nothing to fear -- but fear itself?
Not pain, not failure, not fatal tragedy?
Not the faulty units in this mad machinery?
Not the broken contacts in emotional chemistry?

With an iron fist in a velvet glove
We are sheltered under the gun
In the glory game on the power train
Thy kingdom's will be done

And the things that we fear are a weapon to be held against us...

He's not afraid of your judgement
He knows of horrors worse than your Hell
He's a little bit afraid of dying
But he's a lot more afraid of your lying

And the things that he fears are a weapon to be held against him...

Can any part of life be larger than life?
Even love must be limited by time
And those who push us down that they might climb
Is any killer worth more than his crime?

Like a steely blade in a silken sheath
We don't see what they're made of
They shout about love, but when push comes to shove
They live for the things they're afraid of

And the knowledge that they fear is a weapon to be used against them...

In previous periods of serious trial, I have noticed large numbers of posters with very early signup dates. I thought at the time that someone had figured out a way to sign up and fake the date.

Do you think the President gives a grunt right now about how this will affect his job, image or what it will do to the Republican Party? I half expect him to kick all the press out of AF1 and load it with supplies to take down there.

Thank you! To those who are disappointed in his speech "delivery", I know this is frustrating but perspective please! I don't much care how the President "performs" when he makes his remarks, just that he is on the job. He has to be so delicate about the breakdown of the local and state government when he'd probably like to kick butt. His saying the relief effort was unacceptable should have given you what you say you needed. He knows, he's on it now! Please get a grip people and pray for all those in need and in charge. Remember he is but one man.

In the US, the Eastern Standard Time is the default time given for the President's speech. The Eastern Standard Time includes Washington, New York, and Miami.

The "coulda, shoulda" game is for later.

Tell it to the media whores who are already claiming that Bush "has dropped the ball". They know who to look at when they want to hand out blame. Since all they get from LA 'leadership' is the "deer in the headlights" blank stare, they are more than willing to do the blame game to cover for the incompetence.

"Katie was out for blood and asked questions that were slanted toward making Bush look bad. I agree he did a terrible job answering a reporters questions who was out for blood!"

IMO, he acted and sounded like a man with considerably more on his mind than the usual mindless, unending, rapidfire accusations from the left.

But what if there plan included a cache of supplies nearby that is also under water now because of the magnitude of this storm?

The problem with forward staging is that it can be hit by the storm. The roads were impassable, the airports shut down.

Emergency management HAS to be driven from the bottom up. Each person is in charge of their personal preparedness. Each building should have a person responsible for the building. Someone in charge of the convention center, someone in charge of each pumping station, someone in charge of each hospital.

The President can't be the one to have to worry about whether a hospital in N.O. put it's generator in the basement where it would flood.

The President has to count on advance plans to work. If they don't, it takes days to coordinate new plans.

It sounds from reports that local government, attempting to sound re-assuring, promised people if they just did what they were told it would all work out. So they did, and now 2 days later the buses they were promised aren't there, and they have no food or water.

Rush - Witch Hunt

The night is black
Without a moon
The air is thick, and still

The vigilantes gather on
The lonely torchlit hill

Features distorted in the flickering light
The faces are twisted and grotesque
Silent and stern in the sweltering night
The mob moves like demons possessed
Quiet in conscience, calm in their right ---
Confident their ways are best

The righteous rise
With burning eyes
Of hatred and ill-will

Madmen fed on fear and lies
To beat, and burn, and kill

They say there are strangers, who threaten us
In our immigrants and infidels
They say there is strangeness, too dangerous
In our theatres and bookstore shelves
That those who know what’s best for us ---
Must rise and save us from ourselves

Quick to judge
Quick to anger
Slow to understand

Ignorance and prejudice
And fear
Walk hand in hand

About 1/2 hour ago. hovered for 5-20 minutes. circled a few buildings, hovered again. Wasn't military, but still pretty strange.
