President to speak at 9am ...
You should post this at DU...They need a kick in the a@@
I normally become suspicious when somebody comes on a thread and is overly critical of the President and does so with hysteria driven posts.
I don't care if he's been here supposedly 5 years, months or days. Poor contributions and reactions are poor contributions and reactions. And I will call them for what they are. And subsequent posts from that person did nothing to change my original suspicion or perceptions.
And neither are yours...fwiw.
Well he better be. Mike Brown is the face of the administration's response right now, and he is completely clueless.
Source?
Why don't you volunteer to walk into that hellhole of a city.
Maybe it's not his job to have a plan. But, it was somebody's job to have a plan and the plan sucks. FEMA has planned for just such a crisis in New Orleans (one of their top 3 priorities as far as disaster planning). They (whoever) can go on and on about how this is unprecedented, or such and such was unexpected, but from everything I've read many people have forseen just such an event in New Orleans - for heaven's sake my husband watched a show on tv about it not to long ago.
The footage last night from the convention center was an American disgrace.
And Little Rock was run by Democrats in 1957 and wouldn't integrate the schools, but Ike said "To Hell with That" and did what he had to do.
"Honestly, he doesn't need to say anything right now. He needs to act. He can start by taking control of the state of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans out of the hands of the incompetent boobs who are supposedly running the show down there..."
Amen...I live "down there" and we've got a female left-wing whacko for a governor here that can only cry and wring her hands.... We NEED real leadership...
Of course, the $50M for the Palis, $50M for the Pakis and a host of other foriegn aid can be had instantly at the spoken word....but for a domestic tragedy, it takes days, weeks, etc.
What is wrong with this picture? Good thing Bush is in his 2nd term....he'd never make it now if he had to be re-elected....and Hitlery is coming....wait and see.
Actually, if you listen to the interview with the mayor, the guy interviewing him brings it up.
The mayor says, well they didn't need to be asked to go to the Tsunami, and they didn't need to be asked to go to Bagdad.
Then he says "you mean to tell me a little piece of paper is keeping him from acting"..."then he and the governor need to get together and figure this thing out."
I say to that, thankfully, a little piece of paper is keeping him from acting because if a President unilaterally decides to put "troops on the ground" in a major US city to keep order without going through the proper legal manner...then we're all in a lot of trouble in this country.
The mayor is a complete , well post it on free republic, but it begins with an A.
They're out thick today OhioW. And tag-teaming.
I must shut down the 'puter so I leave the thread in capable hands.
:^)
You have a right to your opinion, but I do not understand why, if you're carping against RATS, you're blaming the president for not reporting on something he reported on in depth othe other day, commented about earlier and will daned sure have a few choice things to say on when he actually REPORTS again. Today was not meant to be a major speech. Why can't I get that through anyone's head?
How fast? How long does it take to round up a bunch of cattle trucks? 30 minutes? What should Bush have done? Stole them himself?
Should the government have a vast supply of Porta-Johns and specially-fitted helicopters, ready for air lifting?
Should they have shot the looters before they started looting?
9/11 happened in an area less than a square mile. This covers nearly 100,000 square miles.
All this shoud have happened...Tuesday? Wednesday? It's Friday morning, for Pete's sake.
When NO police are turning in their badges and leaving.....You just know that they know better than anyone what lurks in NO.
That said, they should not pass GO and collect pensions. The brave thin blue line that stayed should divide those pensions up amongst themselves.
KRLD radio in Dallas.
No, live thread is in side bar on main page under breaking news.
I agree the speech wasn't particularly good or effective. But the RATs will b&tch if he takes a whiz.
That's why I'm glad that town is gone. I literally cried for all the suffering and shock of it all....but the town is a corrupt, immoral party town...and I'm glad it's going to be gone.
