A detachment of 300 Arkansas National Guard troops landed in anarchic New Orleans on Thursday, with the authorization to shoot and kill "hoodlums" Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco said."Three hundred of the Arkansas National Guard have landed in the city of New Orleans," said Blanco.
"These troops are fresh back from Iraq, well trained, experienced, battle tested and under my orders to restore order in the streets," Blanco said.
"They have M-16s and they are locked and loaded.
"These troops know how to shoot and kill and they are more than willing to do so if necessary and I expect they will," said Blanco.
Did she really say all that stuff? The governor sounds like she's ready to shoot someone herself.
Those aren't "civilians" anymore. I share your concern but the scum has to be stopped and NOPD ain't up to the task.
You are right, of course - I own an AR-15 as well as an M-1, the rifle for which the term "lock and load" was invented.
This has to be some frogs dream. Look at the source and consider the supposed source of the quotes. Blanco doesn't even have this kind of concept in her knowledgebase.
Interfax?
Actually, the Morris newspaper chain is pro-American. I can't think of many others.

Blanco demands apology
9:15 p.m.An angry Gov. Kathleen Blanco demanded that Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., apologize for his statement that it might not make sense to rebuild New Orleans. It was unthinkable, Blanco said, that Hastert would kick us when were down. I demand an immediate apology.
At a press conference Thursday night, she said that 300 soldiers from the Arkansas National Guard arrived in New Orleans fresh from Iraq and are under orders to restore order from the hoodlums.
She said of the soldiers: They have M-16s and they are locked and loaded. These troops know how to shoot to kill . . . and I expect they will.
U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon, D-Napoleonville, said that 1,500 people had gathered on the Chalmette ferry landing awaiting evacuation, possibly by ferry, to Algiers. Making a plea for those refugees to receive food and water now, Melancon estimated that about 100 are dead, possibly from dehydration.
Officials also noted that an additional 80 police officers are now on the streets of New Orleans from elsewhere around the country, bringing some stability to the Superdome.
A doctor in University Hospital telephoned a Baton Rouge TV station, hoping to call attention to the desperate plight at his hospital. The hospital was running low on food and water, and had no power, the doctor said. We have 160 patients in the hospital and they are actively dying, he said.
Perhaps mounted 30mm on choppers flying in for rescue may help as well.
"LT... LT... we'll shoot those carrying Plasma TV's and Computers first... they can't eat that!"
My goodness, the govna is really gettin' tough and I can't say I blame her.
:-)
About damn time!
Is this the same as Martial Law Declared? Any shooting to kill will likely result in a Guardsman being prosecuted by LA or Fed attorneys.
Sounds like the left cannot complain about sending the National Guard to Iraq now as they got field experience they simply COULD NOT get at home (although they are being called to put it into use here).
It's a quagmire in NO, LA!
We cannot win with troops trained in desert warfare!
WE are doomed because "They" hate us!!
It is not worth ONE soldier getting wet!
Bring the troops home now!
It's all Bush's fault!
(At least Ted Kennedy would feel at home swimming the canals.)
sarcasm off.
Blanco also issued another message to the "hoodlums" in New Orleans: Arkansas National Guardsmen fresh from Iraq have M16s locked and loaded, and they know how to shoot and kill. She said these hoodlums are taking away limited resources to save babies, children and good people. Blanco said she expects the National Guardsmen to use force if they must.
I say follow the looters "home" and see where the plug the tv or computer in.
Good hunting, guys; do your stuff.
And shoot them for being such a fool... Soldier:"There is a citywide blackout..morons!
