FWIW you can't "lock and load" an M-16A2 or an M-4 for that matter

You are right, of course - I own an AR-15 as well as an M-1, the rifle for which the term "lock and load" was invented.

Perhaps mounted 30mm on choppers flying in for rescue may help as well.
