"Senator Nelson opposes oil drilling off the coast of Florida. Nelson sponsored legislation to prevent additional oil exploration in the eastern Gulf of Mexico near Florida." This is directly from the wooden Indian's own website.
TOPICS: Politics/Elections; US: Florida
KEYWORDS: nelson
Will someone please explain to me how we won't be able to pull a name out of a hat and beat this bum? Please don't tell me about some college poll over loaded with Democrats. Anyone who thinks Harris won't beat this guy because of some connection to the 2000 attempted hijacking, doesn't understand Florida politics. The wooden indian is a dead duck.

Sen. Nelson is Wink Martindale's dimwit brother, I think.

Mel Martinez opposes oil drilling in the Gulf also. I'm very disappointed in him. I voted for this spineless jellyfish because there was no alternative.
I live in Tampa and would love to see oil drilling rigs on the horizon. It's far better than being held hostage by a bunch of terrorists.

I liked to sit on the beach, the grasy Corniche, in Al khobar Saudi Arabia and watch the twilight fall and the lights on the rigs in the gulf blink on. It was a beautiful sight.
There will never be as many in Florida and I think over the horizon and not visible from shore. There was no pollution in the Gulf.
The prohibition of oil rigs is chicken Little mindset at its worst. There needs to0 be public beating of people who oppose and stagnate our great republic.

Nelson is pretty and unburdened by accomplishments or animosities; and he will enjoy the resolute backing of the Florida press corps and funding from lobbyists and institutional donors who anticipate his reelection.
Harris, despite or because of her merits, is an acquired taste with a go-it-alone attitude that does not fit well with the team sport qualities of politics. Incumbents tend to be reelected, and poll after poll has shown Nelson with good numbers, Harris with weak numbers.
Campaigns and events make a difference, as does the energy and commitment of campaign workers and core voters, so none of the above or anything else means that Nelson is destined to win and Harris destined to lose -- but dem's da odds. "The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but that's the way to bet." Damon Runyon (1880-1946).
