This may or may not be true. I just heard a Fox reporter say that a Wal-Mart in the New Orleans area opened it doors and told people to go get what they need to survive. If true, good for you Wal-Mart!
Another Wal-Mart caring neighbor good deed! Thanks, Wal-Mart!
I'm sorry to read that problems occurred - but this does not surprise me in the least.
WalMart is very community oriented. I remember the local WalMart here when Isabel was headed this way..........and for this area that was much less than in other areas...yet they practically turned the parking lot into an RV park and had food, water and restrooms for all that were stuck.
I don't think it was up to Walmart.
We should close all the Wal-Marts and bring back the Mom and Pops.
I miss overpaying for their poor selection of cheaply made goods. And we know that all of the mom and pops provided their employees with health care and pensions along with also paying prevailing union wages.
ROFL!!!!!!!!!
good one!
I think I'd head for the gun department. A couple of cases of shotgun shells might come in handy during the coming days.
Absolutely.. All that stuff has already been rung up as a "loss" on their books..
They will recieve a lot of good will for this, as well as their $1 million to the Salvation Army..
Walmart will rebuild, re-stock, and all those that "benefitted" from their generosity will spend money in those stores..
i do believe it is true I heard it on the Radio station however Tereza>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>remember her said Wal-mart was evil, will look who is the first at bat to help
Walmart giving away the store, Bud/Busch company making cans of water (this is true they did it out here in CA during a big San Fran earthquake) I still have a six-pack can't part with it. Yes all those evil companies that the left so much loves to hate ARE THE VERY COMPANIES WHO STEP UP TO BAT FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!for America have we seen the United Nations yet NO>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> So kudos to Walmart I have no problem pitching in if they have a donation bank
Yes, I heard they had many trucks, filled with water, pop tarts, baby formula, and other non perishable food and hygiene items waiting in Alabama (I think) when the hurricane hit. They were just waiting to see where they needed to go.
PR move? So what. It helps.
Actually, some products aren't made in China. But they are few and far between. A good example? Rose Art school/art supplies are made in USA as opposed to Crayola. WalMart is supplying a demand, and if people buy it, they're going to stock it, its up to consumers, but this isn't the thread for this.
Misplaced question mark. I was not sure of the accuracy of the report.
I agree with your first sentence, but not your second.
More than 70% of what I bought in WalMart Saturday was made in USA, with Malaysia & the Philippines next..............China made was very low on the percentage list.......and we spent a whole bunch of money.
Thanks. I will pay more attention to my purchases. It is up to us.
I just get ticked because I see a lot of Wal-mart bashing when they have been nothing but good neighbors in my area.
Maybe they aren't everywhere but here Wal-mart is one of the few places you will find VFW handing out poppies, the boy scouts selling their popcorn and all sorts of small community groups being allowed to hold car washes and such in their parking lot.
My only gripe is that they never have enough checkout lines open but then neither do most stores.
And when we go to war for real, with no factories, you'll be able to watch it on your Sanyo. Cool.
Since Mom and Pop are the employees of a Mom and Pop store, yeah, if they have health care, they pay for it themselves. I don't think social security qualifies as a pension plan, and what ever profit they make is thier wages.
Yeah...all the Wal-Mart bashers will say that charging their employees (a good friend of mine works there) $18 every 2 weeks for full health/dental ins is disgusting.
Yes, that is the ticket.
Unfortunately we can't help but buy stuff made in China, but it's not WalMart's fault. Several months ago I was in need of a new mixer.....I bought a GE stand mixer. GE, General Electric - made in China. KMart, Target and other stores all had the same one.i happened to buy mine in WalMart, because it is closest to me. I have to go 50 miles to get to a Target or KMart.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
I was really impressed when in WalMart Saturday - every register was open and folks were being diverted from long lines to checkouts in automotive and garden centers.
But as a rule - I agree with you - and it is most noticeable in grocery stores!
I'd say $36 a month is pretty damn good.
