The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Boatjacked?
Oh dear God.
I'll post it as soon as I know for sure!
I saw an interview with Rick in Mobile last night and he said that he and his cameraman and all brought granola bars and water...and they have no place any better than the people in the streets...
I heard that Shep's hotel made them move to a higher floor because of flooding, and there wasn't A/C or electricity or food...
NOW---do you feel better?
I haven't seen Shep's reports today, but the other Fox guy in NO is directing people to get to the Superdome. He also commented that a woman went into labor and they got her to paramedics. So, yes, the reporters are doing some stuff.
Chris Matthews drawing the connection with an "expert" on MSNBC between global warming and Katrina - ugh.
OK...who was playing with the remote on the WDSU feed?

Entergy runs a nuclear plant in MS. Maybe someone else can tell us about Entergy and why they are concerned about an Entergy van.
The President pounded on the lamebrain to get her to order an evacuation. He put FEMA on the ground early. At every step of the way he has had to fight the incompetence of her, Landrieu, and the Mayor.
Liberals are incapable of handling a disaster IMHO and like to blame the President. Looking forward to his speech. He plays by the Rules -- good ones and bad ones and doesn't overstep his authority.
Ya think? Knowing the legal issues is far different than actually navigating them to get a job done. Allowing bureaucratic legalism to delay needed implementation is not leading.
See 'Gorelick', 'wall', and 'Clinton administration'.
The governor is the chief executive of the state, not an appointee of the President. Take that reality into account.
Does he think "global warming" caused the Galveston, TX hurricane in 1900?
I would have thought that you are better than that....
worrying about the "perception?"
I think you must want a Clinton...he was all perception and NO ACTION...
Did ANYONE know until yesterday afternoon how bad it has been? Haley Barbour said he talked to Bush 3 times yesterday...
C'mon....let's not hang Bush on every single thing!
if we would have signed this katrina would have never happened!"Bunk"research will show this wrong
Sounds like Prez may be up soon.
I didn't have a chance to ask him. But if a republican was in office, I'll bet I can guess his response.
it is not the role of military personnel to suggest what their chain of command should or should not do.
