The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

I don't know about Chavez, but the Iran offer was from a satirical article I posted. There is no offer from Iran.

http://www.etherzone.com/2005/sent082905.shtml"

Noted. Sorry, I thought it was real. Too bad, it made my day.

"Instead their crooked local governments sat on their dead butts and did nothing. I believe that President Bush and Mike Brown were the ones who instigated a disaster plan for New Orleans, you might want to check that out."

Precisely the truth and well said!

There's no freaking way that those tugs they showed on CNN just now trying to drag that freighter are going to get it floating.

My husband said the same thing.....he's a Petroleum Eng. The last refinery built in this country was in 1976. And every region has a different blend of gasoline. The refineries are set up for the different regions. If all were the same, crude would be refined much faster....and cheaper. Barring that, how about congress lifting the fed tax for awhile? Nah....never mind. Silly me!

He may be one of the many extra thousands who ended up at the shelter after losing their homes. I pray that he is safe, as are the countless others who are in identical circumstances to his: not being able to save loved ones they stayed with.

How seaworthy are the recently decommissioned Navy ships? I know they're too far away, but the USS Texas is at San Jacinto State Park in Houston, the USS Hornet is at the old Alameda Naval Air Station in Oakland. Any other ships nearby that still float?

But I do know and believe that the American people are the most incredible, wonderful, giving people on earth and that everyone who lost everything in NO will be helped, cared for and will rebuild.

Bump to that. And a word about all the sniping and griping and flaming on the thread. Jim Rob warns on the home page of the addictive potential of this place. And it is. Know why? Because we who are attracted to it are alike in so many ways. To a greater or lesser extent: Smart, informed, independent thinkers, well versed in a position or trade.

All of us love our country.

All of us want to use this forum to save the Republic.

Get this much ability and passion combined, well you are going to reach critical mass occasionally.

Couple of things: When anger is aroused, preview twice, count to ten each time, and ask yourself, "Would I want my Mama to see what I just wrote?"

Sermon concluded. Carry on.

First of all the Admin Moderators need to set your threads up on the top subject board to where you don't have to look for this like Cindy S., Karl Rowe, etc.

That's a great idea, but only Jim Robinson has access to the code for that page and he's still on his way home from Texas.

When Wolfie comes on I switch channels. I heard Caferty's sentence about Pres Bush being in San Diego with that snide voice and flipped him off when I walked in the room.
