The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Tropical Storm 12
If the looters (probably not the same ones, unless they stole cars, and made the effort to get out) think that they are going to get New Orleans-style treatment in Mississippi, they have another thing coming to them.
CNN just reported that the building in Gulfport, MS is a bank. LA emergency management presser on now. Official says water in New Orleans is receding (good news) by a half-inch an hour.
Water is no longer rising in the city
Thanks for the info.
Oh, I think you misunderstand. I have a very soft spot in my heart for TX, mainly because of Davy Crockett & company. And they are really showing what they are made of today.
Understood.
CORRECTION: Water in the lake is receding.
Louisiana Emergency Management - the water is no longer rising in New Orleans, Lake Ponchartrain has dropped about 2 feet, they're going to start working on the breach at the 17th Street Canal.
Zoomed in on a "gentleman" [reporter's words] carrying an air matress to float around. The "gentleman" picked up what looked like a pack of smokes.
Other people "exchanging what looks like money"
don't know about calif tho.. I only paid 6 cents more from mon to tues, course it might be up more this weekend.
Preferably at high velocity.
Actually, they said the Lake is receding at 1/2 inch per hour - NOT the water in the city.
Thank you... we're on Noggin again. Littlest one is excited about "he saved him!" helicopter rescues, but how can I possibly put this in context? :(
wearing a robe is robery;)
What kind of anger would you have to attack a damn Children's hospital?
These people have had several chances to get out and get help and they are attacking and terrorizing sick children...and THEY are victims...
Sorry, don't buy it....if they are desparate for DRUGS, that makes them vermin.
90+ degree heat is helping the water level...
and hurting those still trapped.
Someone said that you cannot use swimming pool chlorine for cleaning drinking water because it has other chemicals in it.
We have a swimming pool, so the plan is to use that water for toilets and such. Not as drinking water.
Have you heard anything thru the academic grapevine about Southern Miss U? I have a friend in Hattiesburg who is alone in this country. The school and town newspaper websites are inoperable.
