The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

They were very calm and laid back and couldn't understand why Marty Savage was so shocked. This was WalMart and they were taking the shoes and laughing at the guy steeling the giant screen TV for "his daughter."

She said that part of the holdup was finding an appropriate place to accomodate such a massive number of people.

BS!

The problem isn't where to to 'em.

The problem is how to move 'em!

I swear.

If the cajun women and men around NO find out there are sick babies in the dome, get out of the way. They will be there on their little swamp boats to get them out.

I am gettiing sick at the thought of those poor people. I thought they had gotten the childrenn out of the dome earlier. Am I wrong?

Great. Lets see how they deal with the army. These type of people will not rule the streets. It only seems like they have a brief advantage. It will evaporate quickly.

Getting them out would seem more important than how to accommodate them. Just put them in a Walmart parking lot in Alexandria/Baton Rouge, etc, and open the Walmart up. It would be great publicity for Walmart. Walmart needs good publicity. They would be pleased to do so. The lack of prioritization is frightening. The incompetence here is frightening.

There are dead bodies and animals floating in it. The sewer system failed and pipes were broken and people could not flush toilets all of which is now under water. That's planty right there...and that's just a start. Their garbage in now in the water, the junk yards are under water. The water is not going anywhere soon so all of that is mixing toigether.

I would not want to get any kind of cut and be in that water.

Now...it's not universally that bad...but the longer time goes on, the worse the opverall water will be.

LOL! I actually kind of feel sorry for the guy. I don't think I could handle such a situation.

Incompetence and corruption are the problem. New pumps already on hand, but never installed, no money? How the f__k could you not prioritize something like that? Total incompetence and corruption are the only answer. Dirt levees? Never heard of concrete retaining walls i.e. dirt filled levees? Total and complete incompetence, typical libs.

Ping to 2959: Interestingly, this fool of a governor just said the corps of engineers DID try to drop sandbags into the breach but that effort failed... the sanbags were pushed aside by the current. And a guy from the army here is saying they tried and are still trying, its just not working.
So your idea was tried, and it isn't working. Time for you to stop, I think.

You think? That's fascinating.

Tell me, how do you think they are going to pump out the bowl without fixing the breech?

PS :Greta just had a beuracrat on saying that work "might" start tonite on dropping properly sized sandbags on the breeches.

No need to apologize - its good to know the range of sentiments out there.
